Marie would like to thank Arts Nova Scotia for their support. Over the last year and a half during the worst months of Covid. Arts Nova Scotia funded a mentorship program for Marie to work remotely via Zoom, and later in live sessions with two amazing textile artists and designers: Nancy Price and Leesa Hamilton. Marie learned how to drape the figure, how to cut and pin to create patterns and how to match her figure onto a dress form. Marie learn skills for selecting, editing, and dressing her models (both live and mannequins). Marie used these new skills for her virtual TikTok Fashion Show and Necklings launch.

Marie’s recent work has integrated the influence of what she learned in these sessions. Marie has begun to build construction lines and seams into her textile and fashion designs. Her most recent work includes a large design collection of form-fitted wearable burlesque art pieces that demonstrate thick black construction lines. These construction lines reflect what Marie learned in the French draping processes with Nancy Price.
