Developed by YWCA Canada, The Not Online. Not on Campus. project extends YWCA’s ongoing work to end gender-based violence and builds on our recommendations from Project Shift, a knowledge-sharing project with the goal of eliminating cyberviolence against young women and girls. Recommendations included creating woman-centred training on how to work with survivors in a way that is supportive and nonjudgmental (i.e., not blaming the victim).
Through these complementary resources, YWCA hopes to provide staff and administrators with tools and self-care tips to use when approached by someone who has experienced gender-based violence, including sexual violence and tech-facilitated gender-based violence.

YWCA Halifax Shift Change attended the CCWESTT conference in Calgary last week, the theme focused on overcoming systemic barriers towards gender equity in SETT (science, engineering, trades, and technology). The reality today is that women and gender-diverse people experience increased rates of violence, harassment, and unsafe working environments in the skilled trades industry across Canada.
Shift Change works to change this. Shift Change is about growing a diverse and equitable trades industry in Nova Scotia. One where women and gender-diverse people can safely grow careers in skilled trades. And where we all work to update unhealthy workplace cultures so that everyone can thrive on the job and in the industry.
