The Office of Sustainability was founded in January 2008 to support Dalhousie in becoming a leader in campus sustainability. The Office is responsible for developing organizational and physical structures and systems that enhance sustainability across the campus. Specific goals are to decrease our collective use of water, energy, air emissions, products and waste; increase active transportation to the campus; and increase biodiversity and renewable energy on the campus.

The Solar Butterfly is a global exhibit to inspire people worldwide with solutions to address Global Warming. This June, the Solar Butterfly team will come to campus with its travelling exhibit as its first stop in a North American tour.

Come explore the Dalhousie Art Gallery’s Indigenous Pollinator Garden and learn about the storytelling power of person-plant relationships. We will engage in an exercise tying together our natural environment with our social issues, and learn about steps forward we can only take with a holistic worldview.

Evan Lorant is a Settler originally from Vancouver, BC. He is entering his fourth and final year of a combined Honours in King’s Contemporary Studies Program and Dalhousie’s Sociology Program. As a lifelong plant person and outdoor enthusiast, Evan is excited to share time and love with others in the garden.

Come celebrate Summer by joining Herbalist Michele Graveline for a walk on Studley Campus, where we will be exploring some of the medicinal plants growing on campus. After, we will gather at the Indigenous Student Centre (ISC) for some herbal tea and more conversation about some of the local plants you can expect to find over the season🌱🌿🌳.

⏰Starting at the ISC at 12 noon until 1:30 pm.

Michele Graveline is a Master Herbalist with additional training in Clinical Herbalism. She has been following the green path for over 45 years.

⏰June 20th, 23rd and 25th (8:30 am – 3:30 pm)
📍The school of Architecture workshop

Closed toed shoes and appropriate clothing must be worn. Volunteers would not be using any machinery.
