Boil Water Advisory in Effect for Beaver Bank, Middle and Lower Sackville, Hammonds Plains, Bedford, Halifax, Timberlea, Spryfield and Herring Cove

Halifax Water is advising that there is a possibility of unsafe drinking water for customers in the area(s) described in this notice. Please use the link below to access an interactive map that can help you determine if your property is within the area impacted by this advisory: (https://halifaxwater.ca/water-service)

We advise that impacted customers boil all water for at least 1 minute before using water for:
• drinking
• preparing infant formula
• making ice cubes or juices
• washing fruits or vegetables
• cooking
• brushing teeth; or
• any other activity requiring human consumption.

This boil water order results from a power interruption at the JD Kline (Pockwock) Lake Water Treatment Facility. This interruption has allowed a limited amount of unchlorinated water to enter the system. Staff are tracking this issue and are working on options to flush this untreated drinking water out of the system.

Halifax Water continues to monitor the water quality and is closely consulting with Nova Scotia Environment and the Medical Officer of Health.

Sadly, this is too close to reality! 😮🤫🤣😎

Current homeowner, for over 30 years informed the real estate agent that they had never had a fire and the inspector has no idea of what he was talking about. The date stamp on the OSB roof sheathing is 2 years previous to the inspection date and with so few fasteners, the work appeared to be completed without a permit.

Soon after an investigation with the fire department, the town building department, and an engineer’s assessment the town issued an order to comply. The owner had to replace the entire roof in this area.

The client was so relieved that the inspector saved her from having to spend thousands of dollars on the repair.

As our home inspection process is non-invasive in nature, we would not be allowed to cut into the flooring to see how many layers had been installed.

Regardless, this is in-freaking believable! 🤦‍♂️🤣😂

The TPR (Temperature Pressure Relief) valve is a safety device that protects the water-heater tank from experiencing more pressure than it can handle. The TPR on this water heater has "NOT" been properly installed as proper installation of this safety device requires the drain tube to flow 'by gravity' and this improper installation has the drain tube sloping up towards the wall drain connection.

A qualified plumber should be consulted for immediate repair options!
