Following The Doorbell last year, we’re excited (but also saddened) to share this year’s holiday ad with United Way Halifax, titled The Pie. 1 in 3 people in Atlantic Canada have reported that rising costs are causing them to struggle to afford basic needs. So to bring attention to these issues, we wanted to show what the holidays might look like for many who have suddenly found themselves in a position where they are struggling to get by. We’re super proud of all the hard work that went into this spot and we want to thank a few of the many people that helped us bring it to life.

From over 20,000 global entries, our 60 second spot “The Doorbell” with United Way Halifax has made the shortlist in the Film category at The One Show. We couldn’t be more excited for this creative use of a modest budget to be alongside the best ads from around the world. Finalists will be announced soon with the awards show taking place on May 15th in New York. Wish us luck!

We’re excited to share our latest with Brigadoon Village, a summer camp supporting children living with health conditions and other life challenges. To reach specifically those kids who are eligible for their various camps we partnered with pharmacies across Nova Scotia. In each prescription bag for a child age 7-18 with a health condition, families will find an additional “prescription” highlighting the things camp provides that medication can’t.
Our holiday ad with United Way Halifax
To bring attention to the issue of homelessness in the HRM, we created a holiday video to show what the holidays look like for those with a home, versus those without. We live in a time where most houses actually have their own point of view, with video doorbells. So to tell a story from the perspective of a house, we shot the entire ad on a doorbell.
For those who can afford it, a donation to United Way Halifax will make a meaningful impact within our community this holiday season. But for those who can’t afford it, even sharing this video with your family and friends on social media can make a huge impact.
After a great night at the Agency of the Year awards in Toronto, we’re super excited to be bringing this one back to Halifax! Up against some of the top agencies in the country, Wunder was awarded Silver for Small Agency of the Year (under 50 staff). He doesn’t have a black and white photo, a serious look on his face, or his arms crossed, but apparently our Creative Director Stephen Flynn is on the 2022 Applied Arts Advertising Awards Jury. He’s looking forward to reviewing the best and not quite the best creative work in Canada.

After further deliberations from the jury, Wunder is taking home a Communication Arts award for our Micro-Influencer campaign with Good Robot Brewing Company. With over 1,600 entries from around the world this year, only 119 projects were selected by a jury of creative professionals and will be featured in the Advertising Annual this fall on magazine stands across North America. Always exciting to hear that Wunder was shortlisted for two Communication Arts awards! Our Recalling Cards campaign with Relief App and Micro-Influencer campaign with Good Robot Brewing Company are among the top advertising work from around the world. Winners will be announced at the end of the week.
As part of our Sleep Well campaign with Assante Hydrostone we recently launched Bedtime Stories. Their team of advisors are so dedicated to making sure their clients sleep well at night, they will actually read you classics like Peter Rabbit, Sleeping Beauty, or even Winnie the Pooh, to help you sleep.

Amidst the Squid Game craziness, here’s our latest work with Relief. We recreated the iconic Squid Game card and placed 10,000 of them around the city centres of New York and Miami. Not to invite those behind on their credit card payments to play a twisted game, but instead to let them know there’s a better way to get back on track. Relief is an app that uses AI and collective bargaining with creditors to actually reduce what people owe. Thanks for the story Adweek!

In 2017 we started Wunder working from home offices and kitchen tables. Our main focus has always been just doing great work, by any means. But as we’ve continued to grow and our ideas required more space to execute, we started looking for a space. And in true Wunder fashion, while everyone was leaving their office in 2020 we found ours in the North End of Halifax (across from Dee Dee's Ice Cream). We moved in 9 months ago and then things got busy, but here’s a few overdue photos. It looks even better in real life, so if you’re ever in the neighbourhood, feel free to pop by and say hey.

Last night was the 2021 ADCC Awards and we’re extremely honoured to have taken home a Bronze in the Public Service category for our No Home campaign with United Way Halifax .
