The Green Reflectors

The not so surf band.

Just put the finishing touches on a unique birthday/anniversary gift for Marcy and Josh Weston. After seeing us play a street show and following us online for a few months, Josh asked us to play a surprise party for Marcy last spring. Couple months later we got a message from Marcy, asking if we’d like to jam with Josh, as kind of a fun birthday thing for him. Since we like to over complicate things, we came up with a more elaborate idea.

We got them both to come over for a jam/hang, and I not so sneakily recorded both of them playing different things on two new songs. Played it off as a ‘just so you can see how we do things’ sorta thing --- then we turned around and had the two songs cut to a record. A record isn’t complete without a cover, so we helped pick out an outfit, organize a vintage style hair appointment at Moxie Eco-Salon & Boutique, and I set up a photoshoot for Marcy with my friend Chelle Wootten. We both went along for the shoot, brought some set pieces, and we all goofed around until we had it. Think it turned out pretty darn special!

The leg/amp picture was the first hint to Josh, and he wasn’t even aware it was Marcy. He definitely didn’t see it coming and loved it! Mission successful. Two big surprises for the same couple in one year. Favorite project of 2023. Happy new year, folks!

We changed the blue bristol board background into a snowy wonderland. 🤣A little update to our first stop motion Christmas video. We did a big compilation of everything we've done thus far and stuck it up on our YouTube channel. It works out to be about a half hour! We've got ourselves a Christmas special! Anyway, hope you check it out and enjoy! 💚

Rest easy, Mr. Watson. Grade 7 French class was an absolute hoot thanks to this man. He used to rock the French lesson tapes back and forth like he was a DJ...it was hilarious. Had to be there. Philip was also the person who let me on stage for the first time, February 2004. This is a picture of him at the rehearsal night.

Sad to hear about Myles Goodwyn passing away. First rock show we ever witnessed was April Wine at the Astor theatre in 2003. They were calling it ROCK THE PLASTER OFF THE ASTOR! It was LOUD! Saw the band a bunch of times afterwards in different places, and got him to sign this dank old 8-Track of Stand Back that hangs out in dad's 79 Aspen. If you don't know April Wine, this album is a great place to start. Probably wouldn't think Myles Goodwyn was the inspiration behind our 'Coke Cran Crab' video with the marionettes, but it was his video for 'I Hate to See You Go' that got us thinkin'. Somewhere along the lines of us resharing it over and over, he commented a sunglasses emoji on it. Tried to find it, but it's lost in the internet ether. Rest easy dude. We'll crank your music today. ❤️

It's kind of our birthday! 16 years ago today, Aaron brought home his first drum set, and we started the band! We're still here! Got enough gas in the tank for a few more years 😂

Thank you for sending us your hand claps! Keep them coming, and we'll keep on putting them in the song! We super appreciate you playing along with us! Absolutely in love with the idea of collaborating with so many people all at once! Okay, we promise we'll stop clogging up your newsfeeds for a bit. We'll leave you with our favorite video of the year, a super secret surprise birthday performance!

PEACE OUT!

A little low res action from the show last night at Carlo Auto! Beautiful autumn evening for some surf noise! Thanks for the pic ! We had a blast last night, and I don't think we were alone! 😂 There were people dancing, some dude laughed hysterically every single time I did anything, we sold all the LPs we came with, and Aaron had to sign somebody's hand. Tried to one up the wireless guitar antics from last time and ran up to the rooftop patio across the street. Thanks again for having us and !!!
