Is anyone else completely in shock that there is only one more week left in October???

This year has been absolutely crazy busy but we’re still here rocking and rolling!

If you meant to book family photos this fall and think it’s too late, this may be your sign.

When you get to reconnect with a couple from the very beginning of your photography career and they have three beautiful children now it’s pretty special!
Wind made us call an audible from the coastal plans we had and we got some beautiful light!

Sure with having some nice weather now; but in these photos it’s April, cold, and blowing a gale!! This beautiful girl was sooooo brave!

I think brides and brides to be have a super power to not truly feel the cold in order to rock their photos… and this beauty was no exception!

Seriously doesn’t it look like she’s out on a warm summer night in August!!??

I think sometimes we overthink where we do family photos!
I said it - it’s true - but if we’re honest - I overthink a lot of things!! (Oops!!)
But the truth is - sometimes the best photos are where your people are most comfortable!
This backyard photo session was incredibly simple and full of love and beautiful expressions.
Everyone was comfortable, and changes of clothes, potties and snacks were all close at hand.
Don’t get me wrong, a lovely familiar location with golden hour light can be a photographers dream - but the biggest thing is that you and your people aren’t stressed. If that means the playground you go everyday, or the park where you walk your dog - then we can work with that!
This goes for what you wear too! Sure a perfectly curated Pinterest worthy pallet of clothes is stunning and I will always make those recommendations - but it’s more important that you capture moments and memories all together than you look perfect. IMO anyway!

What an incredible night on what I thought was the Harvest Moon… which is apparently actually tonight!!
However we had a glorious evening and it was warm enough that the mosquitoes were out!

Reflections.
Love ‘em. Both water ones - and the ones where you think on your life.
I’m sorting through so many things/decluttering and it totally hit me when I found my bucket list that I wrote when I was 20… I’ve pretty much done all of it…which is pretty incredible.
✔️get paid to take photos
✔️swim with sea turtles
✔️Rock a baby to sleep
✔️travel to Africa
✔️and so much more…
Made me reflect on two things specifically :
1. I’m already living my dreams - so like let’s be really grateful for that! Meditate on the amazing that is the life I already have.
2. I need to start dreaming big again. I bought a new bucket list journal and imma gonna dream some big dreams.

What a wild ride this summer has been.

Thankfully these two had a beautiful (albeit toasty!) valley wedding day!

Did I get held up in airport security because of this shot?
Yes - yes I did
Was it worth it?
That’s a heck to the yes.

Apparently packing your bag after playing with sparklers can flag you for explosives… who knew!

Thankfully I like to be early for everything… weddings, airports, coffee dates…so it wasn’t an issue for time!

Huge congrats to J + J at their amazing wedding Saturday.
Weather held until the last five minutes of their portraits, which based on the weather that followed was an extra big win!

I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful family before they lost their last pup and then when they got this beautiful little buddy.
Welcome to the fam!
We love getting photos of you with your canine family members, but also suggest that you have somewhere or someone to take them for part of our time together so that they don’t steal the entire show (it’s easy to happen especially when they are this cute!!)

I love that things are starting to turn green!
Now if we could get some warmth along with that it would be GREAT!!
Longing for walks in short sleeves and capturing frolicking families at the beach!
(Or cake smashes in the park!)
Traditionally I think people think of cake smashes in studio - which can be great too! But to throw in a quick cake smash at the end of a family session is an easy way to cover this milestone and not have things too messy!
A change of clothes, a blanket in the wash and a few wipes :)
However would not recommend a cake smash at the beach!

This is your reminder.

Not every session has to happen in a fancy location hours away from your home. This beautiful session with these beautiful people happened in their backyard with piles of construction materials for the house that was being renovated.

You don’t need to look like a perfect Pinterest board. You can show up as you are, because these pictures are for YOU. For you to be able to relive the love and the moments of the stages of your life and family.

Im currently in Toronto at the being reminded of WHY I LOVE photography.
It is a gift to be able to photograph families, couples, businesses to help them tell their story. To freeze a moment in time for them.

A sunny but tres chilly esession downtown on the weekend!
Thankful for the sunshine and more importantly today - the warmth!

None of these are my photos, but they are incredible. Seeing these in real life is a bucket list item for me!

There’s not much I don’t love about elopement’s/mini weddings/micro weddings.
The simplicity, flexibility, beauty. The focus on the couple and their love. The ability to lean into what matters most and is meaningful for the people who are celebrating their love for one another…
Can’t wait for the two we have lined up in March !
We still have space for weekday elopements this year so if you’re thinking about it… we’d love to chat!!

Last night I had the distinct pleasure of photographing a beautiful housewarming/Christmas party downtown. The Italian host ensured everyone (including me) was well hydrated (is wine hydrating??) and fed!
I know I’ve been social media MIA (to the point some thought I stopped doing photography! Oops!!!)
Rest assured I’m still here, but though I love sharing on here - I know it’s not possible to do it all! You’ll likely hear more from me through the winter when I’m not out shooting or fishing or travelling quite as often!
I hope you all have a wonderful December leading up until Christmas! But I’ll have some posts in the meantime!!

Well I always love visiting, photographing, staying... But the glamping domes and treehouses make it even more enticing!
We called a last minute play change and moved this beautiful couple's mini wedding a day early. It took some work, but was entirely worth it!! The weather was AMAZING - and the next day it rained 45mm and was windy and cold.
Thank you guys for trusting me and making it happen and White Point for doing your part as well!!

How can it possibly be mid September?

My hubby and I worked it out and I think since the beginning of June we’ve slept at home between 15-20 nights.

Things that have taken a hit:
- sleep
- miles on our car
- cleanliness of our home
- healthful eating
- social media!
- our travel budget

But things that have been pretty awesome:
- time together adventuring
- shooting a wedding/elopement every time I’m home (and sometimes when I’m away!)
- seeing new places!
- doing something new that connects me with my dad.

I hope you all had an amazing summer!
