We have received numerous calls to fill up customers tanks before the increase in carbon tax in April. Just a reminder that the Carbon Tax was temporarily removed from heating oil in October of 2023 for 3 years. So fill up your car for sure but don't worry about heating oil for the time being.

I have been made aware by a good customer that there may be a problem with our phone lines. Please be assured everything is fine and we are looking into it. If you do have a problem reaching us, please message me or shoot off an email.

You may have noticed that there are a few differences in ordering oil this year. Let me do my best to explain. In late November Maritime Fuels went out of business. They were one of the big players in the market and I was told they had 23 trucks locally. No Company came in to replace them so as an industry we are short handed. Their customer base spread out and was absorbed by all of the remaining oil companies. We are all doing our best to meet demand, but pretty much everyone are days behind. DOT regulations state that a truck driver can only work 13 hours a day but only 60 hours total for every 7 days.

Helpful Tips
Do not let your tank drop below 1/4, it could be days before a truck can get to you.
Get as much oil as you can possibly afford, you may be able to not have to get oil again until the busiest season is over.
If the worst happens and you do run out before a truck can get to you, you can burn diesel fuel in your furnace until a truck can arrive. ( average consumption would be a 20 liter jug a day)

Thank you
Scott

CARBON TAX UPDATE

The Department of Finance Canada has provided some background information on the announcement last week. https://www.canada.ca/en/department-finance/news/2023/10/lowering-energy-bills-for-canadians-across-the-country.html

The effective date for the three year pause on the fuel charge on deliveries of heating oil will be Nov 9th, 2023.

CRA has not yet received the regulations for exactly how the pause on the fuel charge for heating oil will work. They are expecting the regulations in the next 2 – 3 days.

Lowering energy bills for Canadians across the country - Canada.ca In order to provide more time and financial support for the roughly 1.1 million homes in Canada using home heating oil, to switch to heat pumps, the government announced that it proposes to temporarily pause the application of the fuel charge on deliveries of heating oil, in all jurisdictions where....

Out delivering oil again

10/31/2023

So, here we go again. The Canadian Government has decided to remove the carbon tax from heating oil for 3 years to allow people to transition off of oil. It was announced that it would be removed in 2 weeks on October 23rd 2023 which would be November 7th 2023. We can not find out anything about it. No one seems to know anything about what this will look like moving forward. We will keep digging and announce our findings here. In the mean time if you can wait to order oil for a few weeks it is well worth it. The Carbon Tax is presently adding approx. $155.12 to a full tank of fuel.

CARBON TAX UPDATE

So, here's what we know. The Carbon Tax is officially known as the Federal Fuel Charge. It is now labeled on our delivery slips as Fed. Fuel Charge. It is set at 17.38 cents per liter. 15% HST is charged on the total dollar amount of the Fuel and the Federal Fuel Charge, and the Provincial Rebate is calculated on the same.

I prefer not to get political about this but, my understanding of the Carbon Tax is that it was proposed to lower usage of fossil fuels by increasing the cost. I think the global economy has done a fine job of that without the Canadian Government punishing average people even more. At this moment in time the Government is making more than double what we as a company are making, and we still have to pay for insurance, fuel for the trucks, maintenance, and salaries for our people, etc... from our share. I resent the fact that they are making all of the money while we pay all of the expenses. I also feel that I have to apologize to our customers for this unnecessary added expense.

Thank you again for your continuing support and we hope to hear from you again soon.

Scott Cunningham

PS: we will update you here if anything changes.

06/16/2023

The Federal Carbon Tax will be added to Heating Oil on July 1st. We do not have any information on how much this will add to the cost, nor do we know whether it will be included in the price per liter, or added as a separate charge on the invoices. There is a little over 2 weeks to beat the new tax. Now is a good time to purchase as much as you can afford. The price is the lowest it has been since late 2021. We will update you as more information is made available to us.

04/05/2023

We will be closed from Thursday April 6th at 5 pm until Monday April 9th at 8 am for the Easter weekend. We hope the Easter Bunny is good to you.

12/21/2022

It appears we will be closed Monday September 19th in honor of Her Magesty Queen Elizabeth II. A remarkable woman who earned the respect of the entire world. As Canada's head of state the government has set aside this date as Canada's official day of mourning. Schools, banks, and government offices will be closed also.

09/08/2022

Another heating season is upon us. Thank you for your continuing support. Our minimum orders going into this season have increased from $250.00 to $350.00 in Halifax and Dartmouth, and from $350.00 to $450.00 in the surrounding areas. This is due to the increased cost of heating oil. We are doing everything we can to lighten the burden on folks but higher global prices due to the war in Ukraine are unavoidable. Feel free to share your concerns with us. We will do our very best to shape policy based on your feedback.

07/11/2022

Our apologies to customers who were unable to reach us due to the Roger's outage. Everything now seems to be operating properly.

Scott

06/22/2022

We are advising everyone we speak with to try to get their tanks as full as possible before the fall. We expect prices to increase substantially as demand goes up for the winter. Keep an eye on prices over the summer and order when the time seems right for you. I wish I could predict what is actually going to happen but this is what we consider the most prudent course of action.
And as always thank you for your continuing support.

Scott
