Fortunately, we can profoundly influence T reg cells to dampen the inflammatory response. Factors that can improve T reg cell function to prevent inflammation include:
--Glutathione: Support glutathione and glutathione recycling with s-acetyl-glutathione, liposomal glutathione, or a glutathione nebulizer, IV, or suppository. Nutrients that support glutathione recycling include Cordyceps, N-acetylcysteine, Gotu kola, milk thistle, L-glutamine, and alpha lipoic acid.
--Vitamin D: Take 5,000 to 10,000 IU daily. Test to make sure you are not taking too much.
--Omega-3 fatty acids: A healthy balance of omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids is necessary for healthy T reg cell function. Most people get too much omega-6 oil through processed foods. A healthy dietary intake of omega-3 is 3500 mg for a person eating 2,000 calories per day. In addition to dietary sources, fish, emu, and algae oil supplement omega 3.
--Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs): SCFAs are produced by beneficial gut bacteria and play multiple vital roles in immune and metabolic health. Eating a diverse array of plant fibers produces SCFAs naturally. Supplementation with SCFAs can help boost your own production or fill in if your vegetable consumption is limited due to SIBO or other digestive factors. You may also want to supplement for additional benefits. Look for quality butyrate, a key SCFA. I talk at length about SCFAs later in this chapter.
--Endorphins: Endorphins (from exercise, laughter, positive relationships, volunteering, etc.) are a way to dampen inflammation and modulate the immune system.

'We lose metabolic flexibility when we fail to exercise our ability to use both fuel sources on a regular basis. In our modern era, food (especially food high in processed sugars and carbohydrates) is so readily available that many people rely on glucose as their primary source of fuel. Glucose requires insulin in order for it to be effectively utilized. Over time, as we rely upon glucose as our primary source of fuel, our glucose levels continue to rise, requiring our insulin levels to rise as well in order to try to keep up with demand. When insulin levels are high for long periods, our cells become resistant to its effect, reducing the available glucose supply to our bodies and brains. We experience this phenomenon as insulin resistance.'

Five Studies Highlight Uric Acid Link to Metabolism The connection between uric acid (UA) and metabolism has recently emerged in scientific literature. David Perlmutter, MD, FACN, addressed this subject in a breakout session at the 2023 Integrativ
"“In healthcare-related training, uric acid has been associated primarily with gout, and perhaps secondarily, as it relates to something like kidney stones,” Perlmutter said, "but new research has linked it to a number of chronic disease states.”
Studies, he said, have shown a direct connection between fructose intake and serum levels of uric acid (UA), which is the final product of purine metabolism. Evidence suggests that too much of it is an independent risk factor for a host of conditions as diseases."

"An entire conference on deprescribing? Yes, you heard right! Kolding, Denmark from September 5th to 7th, 2022.
“Deprescribing” is the process of safely reducing or stopping medications when they are no longer a good fit for patients
Older people from countries across the world commonly end up taking a lot of medications. In Canada, 2 out of 3 adults over the age of 65 take 5 or more medications. More often than not, at least one of these medications are not necessary, or have side effects which outweigh the potential benefits."

Studies show the gut microbiomes of Hashimoto’s patients are completely different from those without the disease.
Poor gut microbiome health promotes the loss of oral tolerance and the development of multiple food sensitivities and autoimmune conditions.
Additionally, healthy gut bacteria convert the inactive T4 thyroid hormone to the active T3 form. Your thyroid gland produces hormones 94 percent T4, which must be converted to the T3 throughout the body.
Poor microbiome diversity and health make it difficult to produce sufficient T3 to fuel the body’s cells.
To improve your gut microbiome, it’s important to eat a diverse array of vegetables and include plenty of fiber in your diet.

Glutathione is made throughout our body and serves as our primary antioxidant. It helps protect us from illness, autoimmunity, food and chemical sensitivities, and brain degenerative diseases.
As with many aspects of aging, glutathione levels decline as we age.
The glutathione levels we have at age 10 are different than at age 20, 30, 40, 50, and so on.
The older we become the more our glutathione levels tend to go down — as with most antioxidant systems.
To age optimally, you want to avoid factors that deplete glutathione, such as poor diet, sleep deprivation, inflammatory foods, toxins, high stress, overtraining, lack of physical activity, unmanaged autoimmune reactions, and metabolic disorders.
You may also want to consider supplementing with an oral liposomal glutathione, n-acetyl-cysteine, or s-acetyl-glutathione. Glutathione IVs are also available.
You will find commonly asked questions covered in the video, but here is a synopsis. I use Trizomal Glutathione by Apex Energetics. Dose depends on degree of inflammation, experiment with what works. Glutathione precursors and recyclers include N-acetyl-cysteine, cordyceps, gotu kola, and milk thistle. S-acetyl L-glutathione and glutathione IVs are other options.
