Radical Housing Corp
Creating affordable housing in radical ways throughout communities across Canada
Demolition at our next renovation. Thanks to a group of volunteers to help this homeowner save money. The entire basement was demoed and ready for framing and underground plumbing. The whole demo took three hours!
Radical Housing is in the middle of another basement ARDU (Accessory Residential Dweling Unit). The The City of Guelph was great with the permit, getting it approved in 11 days from when it was submitted.
Progress is steady and will schedule our first inspections for Tuesday.
Radical Housing is an ambassador for attainable housing. We have programs available for families who are struggling to make ends meet and could use extra income from their homes but cannot afford it. We will build it at no upfront cost and share in the rent.
Another project has begun. This 2 bedroom apartment will help the home owner put aprox $1900 per month towards their mortgage and at the same time provide a home for someone deserving. Radical Housing can design, build, finance, and even manage the tenants. Ask about our shared rent payment option.

Day One of demolition! Before and After.
This home in the North End of Guelph will be a wonderful addition to the current homeowners property value and adding an accessory apartment!
Two wins. One Project? Yes! How?
With each new unit built, we are addressing the need for inventory and affordable prices but also the homeowners get a nice boost on the value for their homes with the addition.

Who are we?
We are Radical Housing Corp and we believe every Canadian should have access to affordable housing.
Did you know that in Canada the average cost of a 2 bedroom rental has increased more than 33% in the last 5 years?
Here are some facts to call to action!
Last 5 Years
Average Cost 2 Bedroom Apartment +33%
Rate of inflation +9%
Average Hourly Wage. +17%
The average hourly wage and cost adjustment for living based on inflation will not cover the cost increase for rentals. This can put families in the household salary bracket of $60,000 to border poverty line cash flow. This means no extra activities for the kids, savings for education/home, or other family needs.
With affordable housing options, we can help to reduce the average cost for an apartment to only be +13% in the last 5 years which more than covers the gap between the wage increased to rental cost.
We have many options to explore in working with our clients including but not limited to investors, renters, homeowners, and community partners.
Our business is here to make a change in affordable houses, what role do you want to play?
Ask how you can help out or get involved
Thanks
Radical Team!

Affordable housing is a real and very present issue for communities across Canada. There is excellent work being done for the most at risk citizens and we can agree that more work is needed, HOWEVER... what about the regular folks who are in the low to middle class income status?
Do you know someone who just got evicted and is looking for a new rental unit? If you do then you probably know these stories well, and they aren't pretty.
Recently I met a young female while previewing an income property for potential sale, let's call her Belinda. As I entered her basement unit, Belinda burst into tears. She was instantly stricken with fear and sadness as the reality of having to move set in. What I didn't know was that she had already started looking for a new place when the landlord told her I was coming to visit. There wasn't much inventory, and the apartments she could find that were remotely similar to hers, were 50% higher in price than what she was paying!
It turns out that Belinda was 1 month into a 12 month lease and cannot be evicted, but next year, she might be in the same position. Where will she go?
This is where Radical Housing comes in. There are countless stories like Belinda's, and there are not many agencies helping them out. These citizens have jobs and are supporting themselves but because the housing market has rocketed out of control, people like Belinda are left to fend for themselves.
Radical Housing is using a simple yet radical idea to generate affordable homes by giving home owners an incentive to build basement apartments and rent them out at affordable rates.
Simply put, we will build your basement apartment at no cost, and share part of the rent with you. We will manage the entire job from permits to tenants, you just need to supply an unused basement.
Call, message or email us for more information about how your basement can be the answer to affordable housing.
