Currently in progress in my studio...
Rough colour sketch underway.
Keep posted here for progress on this one.
Happy to be working on this one with our Immersive art community at Michelle Guitard’s Studio in St.George! Such a happy place to create.
Recently, our morning walk took us down to the waterfront marina where they are putting up our latest city art installation.
When it is complete, it will be 5 panels of thoughtfully designed flora and fauna all formed from colourful blown glass beads.
We need these reminders of our need to share the planet will the original inhabitants of these lands.
Exploring shape & value...
On the top left is a photo of my kitchen window sill at a moment in the day when the light shadowed the leaves outside on the surface inside.
To me the curated objects became secondary to the shapes in the composition. The value map (top right image) is great to reduce the image so shapes become obvious. First rough colour sketch below.
I’ll post the completed version when it is done.
I have been obsessed with podcasts and shape lately.
As fall cools the air around me I am drawn once again to nature. I am wandering, walking, noticing. Every image I bring back to studio is full of individual shapes, light and dark divided by mid tones, all profoundly interesting to my artistic eye. Podcasts? Working on more cherry blossom paintings...they smell great !
Somber morning in Hamilton. Supercrawl is happening this weekend. So much music and art to take in!
Good Morning
Have been working hard on a new e commerce website so that my work will be available all year long.
This digital world is pretty amazing and pretty scary at the same time. Speaking as someone who has seen a lot of change in my lifetime. I am grateful for help from amazing and patient teacher's in this process. It has taken me out of the studio quite a bit so I am looking forward to that immersion again after we launch. More to come soon. The fall is full of promise!
(Below is a fun little peice about 2/3 's done. Will be available on the new site when it is done.)
