If you're struggling with dry eyes, give our office a call and we can help you out! Clearview Eyecare is here to help.

Contact lenses of all kinds are deemed medical devices, and need to be treated as such! Any type of contact lens, whether its prescription or theatrical, can cause infections and eye issues if not fit, worn, and taken care of properly.
If you're thinking of wearing a cool contact lens to enhance your zombie, vampire, werewolf or any kind of costume, please BE SAFE! If at any point you experience any discomfort, redness, swelling, excessive tearing, blurry vision or light sensitivity while wearing the contacts, you need to remove them immediately and seek medical attention. Remember - contact lenses that are not worn and cared for properly can cause permanent vision loss - so play it safe!
Clearview Eyecare will be closed until Halloween day, so if you have any problems during or after wearing contact lenses during your Halloween celebrations tonight - please go to your local urgent care center!
Have fun!!

The annual solar eclipse is happening TODAY!!! Although best viewed from the western and southern states, the GTA will still see a 30% coverage! Weather permitting of course.
Because the moon is farther away from the earth, it will appear smaller than the star and does not completely cover it. This creates the "ring of fire" effect in the sky!
Solar retinopathy can happen anytime you are looking at the sun, but it's important to educate the public during a time where everybody is looking up. Always wear special protection when looking at an eclipse - but be careful, there are a lot of knock-offs. Solar retinopathy is essentially a "sunburn" on your macula, causing a blind spot in your central vision. Sometimes, the damage is temporary and will heal slowly over months, sometimes years. But it can also cause permanent blindness, which is why it's so important to protect your eyes!

You can learn more about this solar eclipse by visiting

If you're in an area where you can view the eclipse - full coverage or partial - we'd love to see some of your pictures!

October 12th marks World Sight Day, a time to raise awareness of eye health amongst individuals, families and communities.
Dr. Ferenac was lucky enough to gain tremendous clinical experience in ocular pathologies and treatments by volunteering in various communities across Central America for a year. Due to the demographics in the area, she was exposed to many diseases including glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic related pathology and corneal surface disorders.
Dr. Ferenac was able to use what she learned during this year long adventure and incorporate it into our comprehensive eye exams - where we focus on more than just your prescription, but also your ocular health.

Call, email, or book online with us today. Your vision is precious and we're here to help keep it that way!

OHIP COVERAGE UPDATE - beginning September 1st, 2023. Patients aged 65 and over will have the most notable change in coverage.
Patients with eligible eye conditions and sight-affecting diseases will continue to have OHIP covered eye examinations every 12 months.
Seniors who do not meet the new criteria for eligibility will continue to have OHIP covered eye examinations, but will now only be covered once every 18 months. Of course, if any of our patients notice a change in their vision, they can call the office to set up an appointment.
We know these changes can seem daunting, but Clearview Eyecare is here to help. Don't hesitate to reach out to the office with any questions or concerns regarding these changes!

OHIP COVERAGE UPDATE - beginning September 1st, 2023. Eligibility criteria for adults between the ages of 20-64 has changed.
Eye conditions such as amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (cross-eyed) are no longer covered for yearly eye exams, unless the condition changes. However, patients who have eligible eye conditions and sight-affecting diseases will continue to have yearly coverage under OHIP.
We know these changes can seem daunting, but Clearview Eyecare is here to help. Don't hesitate to reach out to the office with any questions or concerns regarding these changes!

19/08/2023

OHIP COVERAGE UPDATE - beginning September 1st, 2023. There has been no change to children and teenager's eye examination coverage.
Typically, if caught early enough, high prescriptions and some eye conditions are treated during childhood. Conditions such as amblyopia (lazy eye) and strabismus (cross-eyed) develop very early on in life; two of the many reasons why it is important to bring the kids in for yearly check-ups.
We know these changes can seem daunting, but Clearview Eyecare is here to help. Don't hesitate to reach out to the office with any questions or concerns regarding these changes!

Forsight Eyewear will be closed Wednesday August 9th to Monday August 14th. No contact lens orders can be placed or picked up during this time. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Thank you for understanding!

Our office will be providing information regarding this shift in coverage over the next month. Don't be afraid to reach out to our office with any questions or concerns! We are here to help!

On June 23rd, Dr. Ferenac and her husband Steve, alongside some close friends, participated in the DMAC Dangler Golf Tournament in Ottawa. This fundraiser raises money for cardiac research at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute in memory of David MacDonald.
The tournament was started by some friends of David MacDonald, an avid golfer and hockey player, who they met during elementary and middle school. David had a heart condition since birth which required many hospital visits throughout his life. At age 21, after a hockey game, David was admitted to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute for heart surgery, where he subsequently passed away from septic shock due to a bacterial infection. Since his death, the tournament has grown and over $150,000 has been raised for charity in his name.
Dr. Ferenac, her husband, and their friends have taken part in the charity event a few times over the years. Notice how they have sun protection on? Sunglasses, especially polarized lenses, are a must-have for any outdoor sport, including golf!

To learn more about the fundraiser, you can check out the official website at www.dmacdangler.ca .

To get yourself a pair of sunglasses to improve your golf game πŸ˜‰ give our office a call at 905-527-5277!
