When you're tidying up your garden and pulling out plants and weeds, remember to shake off the soil before tossing them into your yard waste bag or bin. Soil belongs in the garden, not the bin! 🚫

Frying pans don’t belong in your blue box! Instead, take them to a community recycling centre or donate them! Remember, one blue box is for paper products, while the other is for containers (plastic, glass, and cans). Keep recycling right! To learn more about recycling in Hamilton, download the waste app app at: hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/garbage-recycling/blue-box-recycling or use the ‘What Goes Where’ item search tool at: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/garbage-recycling/blue-box-recycling/recycling

1️⃣ Containers Blue Box: Bottles, cans, cartons, and jars
2️⃣ Papers Blue Box: Paper and cardboard
🚫 Cross-contamination is a big challenge! Please avoid putting out blue boxes with unsorted recyclables. Let's keep our streams clean and green! 🌿

🚫 Just a reminder: Please do not place plastic hoses in the blue box! 🛑 Dispose of them in the garbage. Items like ropes, hoses, and string lights can damage equipment at the recycling facility

Disposing of plastic packaging can be tricky as not all items are accepted in your blue box. The following items belong in the garbage:

🧊🥡 Frozen food pouches
🛍️ Ziploc bags
🧀 Cheese wrappers

🚫 Reminder: Wire, wood, and plastic coat hangers are not accepted in your curbside blue box; they belong in the garbage. 👚♻️ If possible, return them to your dry cleaner or donate them to a local charity. Damaged coat hangers should be disposed of in the garbage.
