We want to acknowledge one of the incredible women behind the scenes of Scleroderma Canada, Maureen Sauvé. Since being diagnosed with scleroderma in 2002, Maureen Sauvé has become a leader in the scleroderma community, serving as president of the Scleroderma Society of Canada (SSC) and the Scleroderma Society of Ontario (SSO). Under Maureen’s leadership, the SSC established a national office, hired its first full-time executive director and fostered partnerships with the US-based Scleroderma Foundation and Scleroderma Research Foundation.

Our Queen’s Park advocacy day is a unique opportunity for patients and doctors to meet with government officials and share their personal stories and concerns. This is a reunion more than 30 years in the making! I first met John Malcolmson, the Executive Director of the Scleroderma Society of Ontario, when I was a 16 year-old camp councillor and he was he was “Malc” the Director of Camp Brébeuf!
