Should we not question taking a medication that has warnings against eating various superfoods? It always bothers me when I am going through a client's medications and see warnings against consuming certain foods. Yes, I understand why they need to have a warning. They dont know the quantity of a given food that someone may consume. However, if these foods are so powerful that they require warnings, then why is the medical system not using them to treat disease?

What is healthy food? Is it the food pyramid? What about going vegan? Or is it the carnivore diet? Or AIP, paleo, keto...the list goes on and on. The truth is, it's not a one size fits all situation.

There are various diet protocols for different conditions. One diet may suit you very well for a period of time, then as your body changes, your dietary needs may change.

I work a lot with gut healing protocols. One protocol is a 1 or 2 year journey (I work with you for a period to learn some new eating habits), while another is a three step protocol, each lasting 6 to 8 weeks. They are pretty easy to stick with and clients feel very happy and satisfied once they learn a few tricks and tips.

What do I eat? I eat whatever I want! But 80% of the time, I choose paleo or healthy keto style depending on where I am in my cycle...yup, you can control all your hormones with food! Just as you can control your aches and pains, digestive issues, even autoimmune disease symptoms with the food you eat.

The input influences the output and everyone is different. After all, you wouldn't get very good results filling a diesel truck with gas, right?

The picture below is a stirfry I made for supper last week, the next night we had mashed potatoes, roast and brussel sprouts. We also eat chicken fingers, pizza and have wing nights.

Healthy eating is all about learning what works well for YOUR body, how to prepare those foods in a way that your entire family can enjoy, get used to the new routines and eating habits, then enjoy a healthy, happy, pain-free life!

I love meal planning! It is so nice to know what is for supper and what you need to do when you get home from work. Of course, there is the added bonus of sticking to eating the foods that keep you feeling your very best!

Going out for a quick walk after supper is such a nice practice to get into. It's a great way to wind down for the evening. I must admit, Al and I haven't been getting out for evening walks for a while now. I just don't like navigating icy sidewalks in the winter. I do look forward to getting out in the spring! If you don't love the ice either, doing some chores around the house after supper or anything that will get you up and moving for 15 to 30 minutes is the next best thing.

Urgent Product Warning: Signature Popcorn Cookies and Cream variety are labeled gluten-free yet list wheat flour in the ingredients. An ingredients list is not included on the label of the product spotted by a consumer. It was requested and provided by the manufacturer. Gluten Free Watchdog reached out to the manufacturer. We were advised that, “This label batch was printed in error” and “We want to assure you that we have taken immediate corrective action. The labels for the Cookies and Cream Variety have been redesigned to accurately reflect the ingredients, including a clear indication of the wheat-based cookies.” We asked the manufacturer if they have notified the FDA and stores carrying this popcorn but have not yet heard back. Thank you to the consumer who reached out and provided product photos.

Only 1 week until Christmas! While this time of year is meant to be a time for joy, for some people, they find it a time of sadness and/or stress. Some have lost loved ones, are dealing with financial troubles, or are spending Christmas alone.

BE KIND. Always have COMPASSION. You don't always know what others are going through. A smile and a kind word is sometimes all it takes to make someone's day.

If you are going through a period of sadness or stressful times right now, take time for SELF-CARE daily. This can be as simple as preparing a delicious meal 🥣for yourself and freeze the leftovers to enjoy another time. Buy yourself a small gift or two to wrap and place under the tree...get yourself a Christmas tree 🎄if you are able, and decorate it. A nice bath with Epsom salts (magnesium) 🛀and a warm cup of tea 🫖is super simple and will relax you. One of the most accessible practices you can do, is to write down something you are grateful for each day. There is always something. Perhaps it is a bright sunny day☀️, or someone held the door open for you. Embrace the small stuff.❤️
