Whatever your dreams, James Lukow can design and build them in wood. As an artisan woodworker, he builds heirloom quality custom wood goods that are created from quality domestic species and sheet goods using traditional techniques and joinery. He is inspired by classic makers of timeless pieces—arts & crafts, country, modern makers, and what he sees around him. The son of a woodworker, he was shown the beauty of wood without paint and the value of furniture that is made to last.

Good morning!
Here's my latest project, delivered to a happy client. A solid walnut record stand - with Baltic birch for shelves (for extra stiffness). The finish is hand rubbed oil and "hard wax oil" (from my new supplier Grand Finishing Systems , in Guelph ON). Attached are pictures of the stand - first one is the raw walnut fro the project, followed by one that is unfinished (so you can see the magic of an oil finish on walnut), the pics with albums (are mine to help show the purpose). The client had moved down from Toronto, showing he understands - , , & meaning he also .
Hope you like it as well!

I am updating a past post where I showed a pile of pine for a local client who decided to and with a project. Here it is . . . A king-sized bed frame in pine and Baltic birch. (with the materials pic)
Here is a demonstration of my supply chain . . . In January a local client decided to & , by commissioning a piece I am currently working on. So as I always try to do, I & , by getting my materials from a local family run business, Woodview Farm & Forest Products here in Lindsay . . . Here is that load of pine. In the next while I will share what that pine became.
Just recently I created a little project for myself . . . Often my books from things I am working on in our living room get a little messy. So I built a small portable book case. It is made from walnut stained baltic birch with a few steampunk details - round headed screws simulate rivets, plus brass hardware. I based the design on campaign chests - the front comes off (allowing you to use it on a table top), and that front when folded acts as a stand (second image). Just something a little different.
This morning, while the radio was talking about they asked what do we do for our own mental health.
The answer is what everyone sees here . . . I create and when you commission me to build something you've helped my mental health. Remember as well, when we , we help the mental well being of local artisans and those associated with local businesses.
So Thank You to all my clients, craft show customers and all my followers. Thanks to everyone who .
People who know me, know Mental Health is important to me, as I suffer from depression.
So, to answer their question . . . Be there to listen, that's what family and friends do.
Hope you are all well!

Good morning, I am sharing the first project delivered in the new year. This 4'x4' dining room table has pine legs & apron and the top is Baltic birch (veneer core furniture grade) plywood. The finish is water based urethane over a sealer of shellac. The pleasant bonus of this simple finish is the shimmer of the table top. City of Kawartha Lakes
