Quick update on Kettle Valley Ray Trail and Myra Canyon May 14: open for cyclist and hiker. Myra Canyon Trestles get repaired but are passable. The old washout towards Bellevue Bridge also passable. 
Okanagan Mountain Park is 30 min south of our lodge and a gem for hiking and biking ! Saddle your bike for a 1.5 h ride one way to Buchan Bay along Wild Horse Canyon trail. Stunning landscape and history.
Commando Bay was used to secretly train Chinese-Canadians for guerrilla warfare in 1944, during World War II.
Little remains at the crash site of a DC3 passenger plane that went down in December of 1950 roughly 1km northeast of Divide Lake. The two CP Air pilots died in the crash, while 16 others on board were rescued by local search and rescue teams.

Myra Canyon area is full of ripe Saskatoon berries now! Ripe and sweet!
History day at the lodge:
Gord Hotchkiss puts together a documentary for the Kelowna Canadian Italian Club.
Part of it are the stories about working crews building the rail trail and living at Camp Morrisey near the west end of the canyon.
Historians and authors Barrie Sanford Maurice Williams together with Don Rampone shared their knowledge and research in front of Gord's camera. Our daughter Lena von Andrian behind the lens.
Incredible stories and so many ties to Kelownas founders' days.

Update on Kettle Valley Railway trail Myra Canyon part: the highest point is almost snow free on April 17th. Give it a few warm days and it is mostly gone.

Meanwhile in the Myra Canyon area: a dozen of fallen trees on trails after the last storm before the snow came.
And: The guys up at the KVR are still working to repair the washout between Ruth station and Bellevue bridge.
Snow slows it down but they finishing soon.
