The Humphreys family has made an exceptionally generous gift of $1 million to the KGH Movement Disorder Clinic established by Dr. Daryl Wile, a renowned Neurologist at KGH. This gift, inspired by Barry Humphreys' personal journey with Parkinson's, will support a new standard of care for those with Parkinson's and other movement disorders in the Southern Interior. We are in urgent need of some volunteer patients for a paediatric session tomorrow at our Clinical Academic Campus:
Fri, Sept 15 - 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm. The class is a Paediatric session where medical students will learn the basics of doing an exam on a small child (aged 3-8) The class involves:
Tutor demonstrates how to examine the head (excluding the ears), neck, respiratory, and cardiovascular system of a healthy paediatric volunteer patient.
Students practice respiratory exam on volunteer patient with feedback from tutor. Parents are welcome to be in the room with their child for the session. Children should be comfortable with being examined by a teacher and 4 medical students. Volunteers receive a $20 honorarium, along with free parking, snacks and water. If interested and available, please contact [email protected].

A UBC student researcher is looking at how the lack of health-care resources for pregnant women living in the Northwest Territories influences their delivery and overall wellbeing.
“For many years, perinatal travel has been an oppressive and isolating process for Dene, Métis and Inuvialuit women in the Northwest Territories,” says Southern Medical Program student and researcher Lauren Eggenberger.
“Due to a lack of maternity care services, these women move away from their homes and often miss the joy of celebrating traditional birthing practices with family and friends.”
