320 MacDonald Lane Amherst island.
We would like to introduce an amazing person who happens to be an Amherst Islander and a dear friend, Vicki Keith.
We had Vicki to give the Women’s Institute members a brief talk about her background, a glimpse of what she has accomplished –and also give us a look at where she now might be headed.
Vicki Keith is one of the most successful marathon swimmers in the history of the sport, holding an unprecedented 16 world records. Constantly surpassing the records of other swimmers as well as previous records of her own, Vicki has become, to many, the face of marathon swimming both here in Canada and around the world.
I wanted to invite her to speak to us today because whenever I have heard her speak I found her inspiring and I hope you will too."

Our County Stories - A Collection Spotlight
Addington District Women’s Institute Banner
This banner was made by Coral Burdy Carrol (nee Doyle) the president of the Addington District Women’s Institute between 1963 and 1966. The County Women’s Institute existed for nearly 80 years in the 20th century and included women from such towns as Enterprise, Newburgh, Moscow, and more.
The objective of the Original Women’s Institute was to improve women's skills in the art of homemaking and child care. Later that goal evolved to include strengthening families through programming and recording local history.

And the first Module begins January 5th, 2022.
You spoke ladies and we listened.
The start date for leadership modules has changed and so have some of the logistics.
It will still be done via Zoom, but you are now going to be able to pick and choose the modules you want, and you won't

Also we will have an informational Zoom meeting to talk all about the Modules sometime soon. Please watch for the

On September 30th, 5 people gathered for pot luck lunch and discussion.(Judy Greer, Mary Pat Moore, Marilyn Pilon, Karen Fleming and Janet Scott). Janet provided Three Sister Soup and Johnnie Cake in the spirit of reconciliation. Mary Pat had prepared a reading list that we could work away at and we shared our experiences and priorities in the discussions. A book exchange occurred. All decided it had been a positive experience and that we would get together again on October 20th. The group is open to include anyone interested in continuing to explore indigenous Truth and Reconciliation ideas.
