The violent killings of Black people and Black trans people is a crisis that we must be loud and vocal about. Our oppressive society has silenced and devalued Black people and EngiQ***rs must acknowledge the role we play in dismantling systemic anti-Black racism. We want to thank Queen's Black Academic Society for spearheading the call to action on Queen's Campus. EngiQ***rs will be donating $100 divided between the Go Fund Me created by Elijah McClain's family and the Toronto based organization Black Q***r Youth (SOY). Black Q***r Youth is a weekly drop-in center that aims to celebrate Black q***r and trans people and help them connect with afro-centric wellness supports.

Moving forward, our mission of celebrating LGBTQ+ identified engineers must be purposefully intersectional. As an organization, we must always be working on creating spaces where Black q***r and Black trans lives are uplifted and protected. It is not enough for us to simply denounce racism, we must be actively fighting against anti-Black and anti-indigenous racism on a local and global level. We must call out the erasure of Black q***rness in the LGBTQ+ community and that starts by looking internally as a club.

Tony McDade, Nina Pop, Dominique Fells, Riah Milton and Tete Gulley are the names of only a small number of the beautiful transformative Black trans lives we have lost. We must work to honour them, fight for them and remind people that the killing of Black trans lives is an epidemic. Swipe to find mental health resources for the Black community.

Only two days left to fill out Queen's Period's survey on Period Accessibility of menstrual products on campus! Make sure your voice is heard, whether you think menstrual products should be provided to students at no-cost, at a reduced-cost, or in some other manner

The average menstruator will spend almost a quarter of their university degree menstruating. Students who come to Queen's should be focused on their academics and extra-curriculars - not on their periods.

The AMS has partnered with Queen's Period to address period stigma and accessibility on campus. Please fill out the following survey to share your opinion and help us come up with solutions www.surveymonkey.com/r/QPeriod.

Home | Four Directions Indigenous Student Centre 10/19/2019

Queen’s University and the city of Kingston have been known to be a welcoming environment that foster a positive space for indigenous peoples and LGBTQ+ people within the community. Sadly, last Thursday, October 10th the Chown Residence Hall experienced an unthinkable act of racism. The Queen’s community has worked tirelessly to be an environment that is full of acceptance of all people and such an action poses a threat to that environment.
Canada, as a nation, has come a long way in breaking down barriers and providing an open space for all to live with freedom to be our true selves.
We are appalled that such vicious and offensive behavior is present within the walls of Queen’s.
While actions are being done to bring justice, it is important to be aware of the consequences these words may have.
There are many wonderful and accepting facilities on campus that are always available to offer resources and support.
