Some pieces from the past, I made these after a workshop with one of my favourite potters Tom Coleman. Please note that the shop will be closed tomorrow ( Saturday Nov.2) to attend a wedding.

New crystalline vases before and after acid etching! The acid leaches some of the colouring oxides out of the background glaze. The longer the vases sit in the acid bath the lighter the background will become!

These small faceted brown stoneware bowls just came out of a gas kiln group firing!

So many ducks found new homes at Art After Dark! Here are a few pictures of how I made the duck molds from real rubber ducks. To make a porcelain duck, I then pour liquid slip into the mold. The plaster in the mold absorbs the water in the slip from the outside in and the ducks can be released from the mold after a few hours!

A whole raft of ducks is hanging out here, killing time until Art After Dark tonight from 7-10 in downtown Kingston. Come check out the galleries and local art!!

Another new 16” rough edge platter out of the kiln. Most of my work is porcelain thrown on the wheel but I am really enjoying making these large brown stoneware platters! Don’t forget that tomorrow night is Art After Dark from 7-10, it is a great night for checking out downtown galleries and local art.

I have just fired the gas kiln so my shop is loaded up with new work including this faceted bowl, 6.5 inches across, chun glaze inside with unglazed exterior.

Please note that Black Dog Pottery will be closed on Friday June 14th because Faye’s dad is visiting from Newfoundland! I am here until 5 today, and the shop will be open 10-3 on Saturday. These are some new ash glazed mugs now available.

Some new olive oil dispenser bottles that I am fooling with…now that the tops fit I can play with the forms and glazes!

Just a quick note that my shop will be closed this Saturday and next Saturday (March 2&9)! I am open regular shop hours during the week. I picked up these tulips for a just fired vase to remind me that spring is coming!!

So I spent last week making vases…I have always wanted to do a spring window display of just vases, dozens of them, all filled with fresh flowers and this year I am going to do it. Likely for Mother’s Day, I will keep you all posted!
