“Fast forward to us as adults. Many of us start to wonder, “What’s going on down there?” We start to yearn to get back in touch with our bodies. We take up yoga or dance or we get massages. Or we start a mindfulness or self-compassion practice to learn to tap into what we are feeling. Many of us have to go through the process of re-experiencing some of the emotions and feelings of those events from our childhood that we did not have the tools to handle at the time […], so it turns out to be a real labor of love and commitment to start to acknowledge, validate and tend to our dear body.”
Somatic Awareness Journaling: A simple daily practice to reconnect with your body - Kristy Arbon's HeartWorks It sounds so simple, but getting in touch with our body and describing what is going on for us often needs to be re-learned.
“Somatic practices offer a profound way to reconnect with your body, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being. While attending therapy sessions is valuable, integrating somatic practices into your daily routine can extend the benefits and support a more holistic approach to healing. Let’s explore how you can seamlessly weave somatic practices into your everyday life for a deeper sense of connection, presence, and inner peace.”
“No one is exempt from experiencing emotions. That is a part of being here as a human. Why then, do so many people experience difficulty with feeling emotions fully? This might be because of a society that does not value feelings and prioritizes being “good” or “happy” above all else. Other factors can also affect our readiness to feel, like not being allowed to experience or show emotions growing up, or being told that feeling certain emotions like sadness, grief, or anger are “bad” and shouldn’t be felt or expressed.”
How to feel your feelings: Allowing yourself to feel fully — Living Better Lives Counseling LLC Living Better Lives What happens to emotions that have been suppressed? Maybe you’ve heard the saying, what you resist, persists. When we avoid or reject emotions, the energy of those emotions gets stuck in the body. This is why we continue certain cycles and unhealthy patterns. The energy is never released and stays...
“If we are not careful, we can miss what our body is telling us. Mindfulness can help us hear and understand. Mindfulness is proven to lower stress, increase self-awareness, increase body awareness, improve performance, protect against mental illness, increase focus, improve emotional processing, help regulate emotion, increase compassion, decrease feelings of loneliness, improve sleep, and more. With practices like meditation and mindfulness, consistency is key. Studies show that 10-15 minutes of mindfulness practice a day will lead to results.”

“With the approach of fall, Mother Nature begins the transition from the high energy summer season of bright, warm, longer days to a winding down, signaled by falling leaves, shorter, darker days, cooler weather and a general downshift in the cycle of life. This seasonal shift isn’t limited to a change in our natural environment, but also has a profound effect on the rhythm and health of our bodies.”

“The transition from summer to fall is a distinct one. From childhood to early adulthood, this time marked a change from freedom back to routine, and part of this may still ring true. A summer mindset is often filled with openness to adventure, spontaneity, and an overall carefree feeling. The mindset we adopt for the fall is more slowed down, reflective, and even a bit nostalgic. It can be difficult to switch your mindset to match what’s happening outside. But each season is an opportunity to start fresh in one way or another, and this fall, we encourage you to embrace change and everything that comes with it.”
Transitioning Your Mindset from Summer to Fall — Golden Coil The start of a new season brings about changes in the world around us, but it can also be a time to initiate change within ourselves. Each seasonal transition is unique—winter brings celebration, spring ushers in new growth, and summer promises a sense of optimism. As the leaves begin to change co...
“Because, whether it’s the external shift from summer to fall, fall to winter, winter to spring, spring to summer…. there is a subtle internal energy shift that happens as well. The changing of the seasons & the turn of the calendar gently urge us to root down into the unique energy of each season & make the most of that specific time of year.”

“Although the more leisurely rhythms of summer are part of its appeal, the downside is that we may find ourselves losing touch with the habits and routines that bring out the best in us. The end of summer is a chance to reconnect with our focus and with our purpose.”

Here we are... and here’s how we got here
Welcome! We are very excited to have you here. We are particularly thrilled about launching our blog and our new Healing Tree Wellness Centre website. We hope that you will be a regular visitor to our site and this page.
As part of our website launch, we wanted to share with you our story of how the centre came to be and why, we believe, it has been welcomed by the many clients that we have had the privilege of working with on a daily basis.
Our Story
We were two moms-to-be; one was looking for new office space and the other was looking to share her space. We loved our individual practices and the work that we were able to accomplish with each person that walked through our doors; we didn’t yet know that we each wanted to do more. We knew we had so much more to offer to the community, but how? Over the next two years, with active toddlers running in the background, we discussed how we came to be the professionals that we were. We talked about what influenced us; what inspired us; and how the work that we did with our clients made us reflect on what made us different from other professionals. We learned that many clients were asking for something more. They were tired of the same old approaches to therapy; they wanted a space that offered them the chance to heal their wounds.
