Very humbled for the opportunity to speak at the last ICDO 2024 Meeting in Madrid, September 2-4, and share the approach of the Montreal Tongue-tie Institute towards the treatment and most importantly multidisciplinary management of ankyloglossia for all ages. The title of the lecture was: ''Demystifying Frenectomies: What, When, How''. We discussed its impact in breastfeeding, but also breathing, swallowing, speech, craniofacial growth.

We also look forward to give another in-depth presentation about tongue-ties next year at the Italian Dental Association annual congress in Sardegna at ''AIO 2025 Sardegna: a decade of dental innovation''. Excited again to meet and share our expertise with colleagues and peers from around the globe !

We’re so excited to unveil a new visual that beautifully captures Dr. Zaghi’s latest insights into tongue anatomy, introduced at the ALSC Symposium earlier this year. This exciting update reshapes how we understand tongue-tie and mid-tongue restriction, clearing up confusion around around the term posterior tongue-tie. The new terminology reveals that what we’ve been calling a posterior issue is actually linked to the mid-tongue body! These insights will help medical professionals, dental professionals, and speech therapists assess and treat tongue-tie with far greater precision.

The tongue is more crucial to breathing than many realize. With eight separate muscles, this small organ manipulates food placement as we chew, helps us swallow solids and liquids, and aids in articulation.

Notre vision a toujours été et sera toujours de nous établir comme la référence au Québec pour la gestion et le traitement de l'ankyloglossie pour les patients de tous âges.
