A dynamic 55+ mixed chorus (SATB) performing a wide variety of music, usually to seniors' audiences. We sing a wide variety of music, in 4-part harmony.
The Rockway Entertainers practise every Thursday, 1:30 to 3:30, at the Rockway Centre. It is normal for us to perform at a retirement home, nursing home, or other seniors' environment, about 1 or 2 times a month. Due to the COVID happenings, our number of members is currently quite low, and we are actively recruiting, to get back to capacity. If you have an interest in singing, please contact the Rockway Community Centre office for more information.
On November 20 and December 9, we were pleased to be presenting our Christmas concerts at the Rockway Centre. We had a 'full house' both times, and the audiences' response to our selection and presentation of songs and carols was very enthusiastic ... we certainly love those standing ovations! As Director of the chorus, I say "Bravo!" to the singers for their hard work, dedication, and terrific showmanship.
We were also pleased for the opportunity to present to our previous DIrector, Jean Galbraith, a recognition and 'thank you' gift for her years of service. It was hand-painted by one of our members, Patrice.
And, of course, we thank the audience for your participation and continuing support of the Rockway Entertainers.

On November 27 we were pleased to be able to perform a Christmas concert in the Chapel at the Trinity Village Care Centre. We were warmly greeted by the audience and staff, and the appreciation also showed in the comments we received after the concert.
It was our first concert in quite a while, and helped to get us into performance mode for our Christmas concerts at the Rockway Centre over the next week.
The concert went very well and it was indeed a fun and happy event. It's always great to see people smiling as we perform.
Thank you to Rebecca and Heather at Trinity for providing these photos.
Folks, we've all been working really hard on our Christmas concert for this year, and we are planning on doing a terrific show! We hope to see you there!
Tickets are still waiting to be printed, but reservations can already be made by calling the Rockway office.
Please note: Not everyone who purchases a seat for the concert will receive a physical ticket. Anyone who purchases online or by phoning the office will be put on an attendance list, no actual ‘ticket’ needed.
I came across this photo. Can anyone recall when it was taken?
We're back, after a summer of rest, and it certainly is terrific to see, and hear, everyone again! Yesterday we had our third practice and we're certainly still in great shape.
Another terrific item is the success of our recruiting campaign to boost our numbers after our COVID-era losses. Thanks to our hard-working team, we gained about 20 members (WOW!) and that certainly will give us a richer sound once everyone gets familiar with the music. So far, it appears, that will happen quite quickly, judging by the way the new group is coming along. To the new people, we of course welcome you and look forward to some great harmony!
That being said, we still have room for a few more members!
Our major Christmas concert is on the horizon and we'll be spreading more news about that over the next little while.
Hello members and friends!
As the end of summer begins to appear on the horizon, we are of course looking forward to re-convening for some music and camaraderie!
This year we are particularly interested in increasing our numbers to recoup the membership losses that we incurred during COVID.
To that end we have created the attached poster which provides a little more information, and we encourage you to read it, and share it with any over-age-55 people who might enjoy that fulfilling singing feeling, and even those who are shy and need a little encouragement to give it a try.
Looking forward to our first get-together in September!

Great home made food selections, a efficient and successful meeting with some great entertainment! Well Done everybody!
On May 13, we performed our 'Spring Concert', the first of 2, at the Rockway Community Centre. It was our first major production this year, and was well attended, by a large and receptive audience who were most generous with their compliments.
There's one more show on Thursday the 18th at 2 p.m., and tickets are still available.
Thanks to our supportive audience and to our terrific singers!
Sorry for the late notice!
In Memoriam
Over the past 2 weeks we have lost a former Entertainer. We will miss her. Cathy, may you rest in peace!
Our first post-COVID sing-out was at Bankside Retirement Residence (Kitchener) on April 19. So happy to be back out there, bringing a little joy and musical memories to seniors again!
After a long more-than-2-year shutdown due to COVID, we were thrilled to be back to singing in the spring of 2022. Under the temporary conductorship of Rosemary, we were also searching to fill the empty Director's spot.
In January of 2023, we acquired Karl Euler to take on that role. We are looking forward to a great working relationship together!
And we are actively recruiting new members, as our numbers dropped considerably during COVID. If you are a senior and like to sing, we are a fun place to be! Please contact the Rockway Community Centre office for more details.
Happy 80th to our own Bob! Congratulations on this milestone!
Looking forward to seeing my singing buddies tomorrow. Time to sing again!
