This week in boxers who helped shape the sport of boxing, we have Ellie Scotney.

Championships: IBF World Super Bantam
In February 2020, Scotney (Born March 16, 1998 in England) inked a long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Sport. Her much-anticipated debut, initially set for March 28 at The O2 Arena in London, was primed for broadcast on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN in the US, serving as part of the undercard for Josh Kelly vs. David Avanesyan. However, the event faced cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finally making her debut on October 17, 2020 against Bec Connolly, Scotney showcased her skill with a third-round knockdown, ultimately securing a six-round points decision victory. Referee Michael Alexander scored the bout 60β53 in her favor.
Her sophomore outing took place on the undercard of Lawrence Okolie vs. Krzysztof GΕowacki at The SSE Arena in London. Facing Mailys Gangloff, Scotney triumphed with a points victory over six rounds, with referee Marcus McDonnell scoring the bout 59β55.
The culmination of Scotney's rise came on June 10, 2023, in London, England, as she clinched the IBF super bantamweight championship with a resounding unanimous decision win over Cherneka Johnson.
Scotney successfully defended her IBF super bantamweight title on September 30, 2023, in London, England, against Laura Soledad Griffa, securing another unanimous decision victory to solidify her status as a formidable champion.
