If you know me, I'm always talking about mindfulness. I believe that it's the foundation for being able to use most skills well.

Definition of mindfulness: a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.

Who can relate...

I have found that I sit with my "searching for problems..." feeling and hope it will go away. More often than not, it doesn't and leads to unwanted anxiety.

When we experience moments like it's important to change it up. That can be as simple as getting up from your desk and walking around the office, going to get a drink of water, or stepping outside for a breath of fresh air.

It's official!

I finally handed in my paperwork (way overdue) and am now an official EMDR therapist.

Back to school brings up a lot of different emotions.

I like to use the three pronged approach to help ease any anxiety my kid might have.

Head - positive thinking and self talk can go a long way.

Heart - emotionally attuning to our kids and validating the feels is key. Usually we rush to fix them instead of helping them work through it.

Body - help them identify ways our bodies alert us to our emotional experience. We can use deep breaths to help calm the butterflies in our stomach.

A beautiful picture of our new city.

As of August 28th my practice will be moving online as we embark on a new adventure in Salmon Arm.

This transition has been extremely exciting as we move closer to family and a slower pace of life. However, having to say goodbye to friends and clients has been really difficult (even those who are staying with me online).

We are so thankful for all of the love and support we have been shown.
