The Color Purple - Alice Walker
Banned for religious objections, LGBTQIQ+ content, and violence, The Color Purple tells the story of a young, uneducated African-American woman named Celie. Throughout the book, she encounters racism, sexism, abuse and challenges to her sexuality. She finds her way through these challenges thanks to the strong relatioships she has with other women in her life.

S*x is a Funny Word - Cory Silverberg and Fiona Smyth
Banned for LGBTQIA+ content and providing sexual education, this publication is a comic book for kids that has representation of all sorts families of different makeups, orientations and gender identities. S*x Is a Funny Word opens up conversations between young people and their caregivers in a way that allows adults to convey their values and beliefs while providing information about boundaries, safety, and joy.

Local author E.A.M. Trofimenkoff will be in the bookstore on Saturday September 28th for the launch of their new book, 'You and I Collide.' We hope to see you there!

After 3 weeks, Copper has settled into his new home quite comfortably. Hugo tolerates his antics and he has made fast friends with hundreds of visitors already. Some of the displays haven't faired too well, but he's slowly figuring out just where his legs end.

We had an inspiring presentation at the Analog Book Club this past Sunday from local author and teacher, Jason Wegner. (front right in image). Jason's memoir, Manic Man is an open, honest telling of his journey with Bipolar 1 Disorder and how he achieved his dream of becoming an English teacher today at LCI here in Lethbridge.
