Had to go shop local at @runnersoulleth for some new running shoes before the upcoming @moonlightrunlethbridge. Thanks to Erin for helping me out(love that we share the same name!)
.
Took myself for a 3km run over to Sunridge park, and made sure to drink my electrolytes from @nuuncanada beforehand to help my body absorb water. With the nuun sport tablets having 1 gram of sugar per serving it's easy on the stomach too, which is great.
.
With this beautiful weather how could you not be excited for spring and the upcoming race!

Here are my top three pieces of exercise equipment you should have at home. #1, a gym mat! It is not only useful for padding when laying down or when on all fours, but it is also a great spacer to alter an exercise (e.g.fold a yoga mat and place under your heels to squat deeper). PLUS, a mat is also great as something to squeeze or push against (e.g. between your knees for a bridge, or the side of your thigh for a side plank). #2, is a platform, bench or box. (A stair or sturdy chair will do in a pinch) Anything that changes the height can mean that you can go from working upright, to on a diagonal, to fully horizontal. This can change the pull of gravity to challenge different areas of the body. (E.g. a lunge on flat ground versus with the back foot resting on a bench will make a very similar looking exercise feel completely different!) Who doesn't like a little more variety in their movement anyway? #3 is resistance. Resistance provides SO many health benefits; nobody should be afraid to lift a weight or add difficulty to their movement routine if they knew the benefits they would receive. Doing hard things means we get stronger so that the hard things become easier to do. This is not only very important as we age, but also to remain resilient to the daily stress put on the bones, tendons, muscles and joints or our body. If you are looking to work with someone who can introduce you to beneficial movement for your needs, such as an experience with pain, a current injury, or future performance goals, then please contact me or use my online booking link in my profile.

Hiking is one of my favourite hobbies in the summer! Bertha Bay was my 2023 season opener hike. My goal this year is to hike all of the triple crown hikes in the same season, so I am very excited for what this year has to come! . What is your favourite summer activity? . Being an Athletic Therapist I have a solid emergency kit that I take with me on my hiking trips, since you never know what can happen out in mother nature. Here are some sports I have been on the sideline for this year...the sideline looks a little different for each one, but my role stays the same. 🧰 My job is to be 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 on caring for athletes' health and safety and to be 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 for any situation that may arise. . 🧗Bouldering 🏉Football 🤼Wrestling 🏒Hockey . If you are interested in getting your sideline covered, please contact me. Which side of A.T. do you choose? . The sideline part of Athletic Therapy influences my approach in clinical rehabilitation. . I observe A LOT of useful information and 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 to carry out your movement activity of choice. They can choose to pursue additional training for a Sport Physiotherapy designation to be present on the sideline. ALL A.Ts are trained for both clinical and sideline work. . 𝐀𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐠𝐚𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞

Are you getting back into running, or looking for an addition to your walking routine? (Hint, weighted backpack walking is also great for keeping your joints lubricated and tendons strong) . Just like individuals that go to the gym, 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐮𝐬 to become fitter or improve a physical skill. More repetitions get completed, more weight gets added...you get the idea.  . The same thing applies here. By adding weight to walking, it challenges the muscles in the lower leg like your calf and big toe flexors to 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝. These muscles also ABSORB all of your body weight PLUS it's momentum when running. (𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝟑-𝟒 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 for your muscles on one leg, since running happens by alternating one leg at a time on the ground.) . Adding weight to your walking routine can also be a helpful stimulus for your joints to lubricate, and also engages your tendons more compared to supporting just your body weight. 𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐝. This weighted backpack method can be a helpful progression towards running if your Achilles, for example, is not used to being springy for running or your joints aren't used to high impacts yet. . Generally speaking, injuries happen when "too much too soon" occurs. If getting back into running is something that you want to make more achievabl
