In this kitchen we decided to replace the arborite countertops with quartz countertops and subway tile. Take a look through the photos to see the before and after. Sometimes its not about changing the footprint, its just updating what is there.

Another decision that was made, changing cabinet bases into drawers instead of going back to cupboards. Drawers are better for organizing and creates ease of access, no more going on your hands and knees to pull out that Tupperware lid.

We are always excited to see how a renovation turns out. Seeing homeowners settle back into the spaces makes our hearts happy.

Its Wednesday! Here's part of a renovation we completed earlier this year.

Here is what we changed out:
✅ wood cabinets for a new custom vanity in Lush Green by Benjamin Moore
✅ square floor tile for vinyl plank in a wood tone
✅ new soaker tub
✅ new toilet
✅ small square wall tile to 12" x 24" Carrara White tile

Take a look for the before and after. The green with the wood tones really give the space an earthy and warm feeling.

A recent project we finished.

Instead of a small sink with side by side laundry, we stacked the washer and dryer and changed the sink into a dog washing area. We love how it all turned out.

KITCHEN STORAGE
During the design stage of any project, we work on options on how to get the most space in a kitchen. What cabinets will work best for each customer. We highly recommend adding more drawer space and less doors.
In this project, we took out a few walls in order to make the space more open and easier for entertaining. Who doesn't like an open concept? Since we removed walls, we needed to think of where we would be putting each item. Whether it be the stove, fridge, pantry items, dishes, food and anything else that may be placed in this kitchen. We re-worked the entire kitchen layout.
We added a tall pantry next to the fridge, the stovetop was moved into the island with a venting system that still runs out the side of the house, and a beautiful four sided island with plenty of storage.

🚿 CUSTOM SHOWERS 🚿
A custom shower is a fully custom shower. When quoting a renovation project that requires redoing the shower, we suggest two options:
Option 1 - fiberglass shower base which comes in standard sizes (but not always an option for older, small showers)
Option 2 - a custom shower base that can be any size which consists of a Schlueter shower kit and floor tile.

At this project, the homeowners went with option 2. The shower turned into a 6' x 3' shower with a dark grey hexagon floor tile. We built in 2 niches and a bench along with 2 separate shower heads. Take a look at the photos to see the before and after of the space.

We couldn't do what we do without our trades.

Ensuite reconfiguration had to be done for this project. The clients wanted a bigger shower, a separate room for the toilet and a double vanity. In order to make the wish list happen, we had to reconfigure the room.

Take a look through the photos to see how we changed to floorplan. Part of our job is to give you options for a floorplan that just makes sense to you. For this project we took out the two deep closets and gave them a walk in closet instead. We took out the bath tub and built a custom shower and gave them a double custom built vanity.

In this project, we took out a large tv cabinet that was built for the space, however it was not being used to its full potential. The cabinet drawers were small and really made for a specific purpose. Our designer worked on a few different ideas on how to change the space, adding in a fireplace and adding storage that was better suited for our client.

Take a look through the images to see the before and after. We touched up the walls with new paint, added shiplap to create a finished look behind the tv and added pot lights to brighten up the space.

When you start on a new project, as a designer, you need to think about all aspects of the space and decide how to incorporate the clients needs into the space.

During this renovation project, the clients wanted a better way to display their books, and I think we found just the way. With the help of we were able to build and install a beautiful custom cherry bookshelf, which spanned from one end of the house to the other. The bookshelf consists of lots of shelves, a few display places and cupboards. One of which is big enough to hold a table leaf.

We love seeing all the books and how they have styled this reading area.

Here is another view of the fireplace.

When you first walked into this home prior to the renovation there was a large brick closet, with a half wall. We removed the brick and changed the location of where the stairs went up. This made more sense for how the rest of the space could be laid out.

Now when you walk into the space there is a divider wall with a 70's style wall panel, stone floors and open stairs. The ceilings are finished in wood paneling that was stained to match the rest of the house. Take a look through the photos to see what it looked like before.

We're still here doing what we love!

Its been a bit since we last posted, so we thought we better get back on here and show you what we've been busy with! Every project is different and comes with its own challenges, but there isn't anything we can't really do.

During this project, we ended up changing the main floor layout to make it more functional for the home owners. We filled in what we called "the pit" in front of this fireplace, it is exactly what it sounds like, a pit in the floor. We filled it in and now it is a beautiful statement piece when you walk in the front door and a great place to pull up a chair and read a book.

Kitchens. Let's talk about them for a minute. Kitchens are known for being the hub of the home, where the smell off coffee greets you in the morning and the gang gathers after a long day.

At this kitchen renovation, our client wanted more space in their kitchen. There was a covered deck that was being used, but figured it would get better use of if it was part of the kitchen. So that is what we did. We added a new deck on the back of the house and took the space from the covered deck and made it into the kitchen. Instead of having a gallery kitchen, we were able to give her an island.

In this renovation we were also able to keep existing cabinets, and add some new cabinets while matching as close as we could to the stained cabinets. We love how this kitchen turned out! 😍

Site visits are not always beautiful, and sometimes a renovation looks like this. Here we have the kitchen sealed off so the painters can keep spraying the kitchen cabinets.

Sometimes your kitchen just needs a new cabinet colour and backsplash.
Sometimes your kitchen needs a total revamp with brand new cabinets, countertops and backsplash. We can do either. Let us know if you are interested in updating your own kitchen.
