Hello friends! These new parking changes are great news for our evening clients and patients! 🎉 I made sure to move into a building with a large parking lot where you can park for free, but it does end up being quite full all day long, especially during our busy after work hours. Now that there is no cost for parking after 4pm though, you are able to use the street parking if our lot is full at no charge!! 🎉 That change from having to pay until 5:30pm to only having to pay until 4pm is music to our ears! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
There are quite a few spots alongside the building on 3 Ave S, up 3 St S, and you can use the spots across the street by the courthouse for your appointments and any classes and workshops we have in the evening! Of course, if you have an appointment between 9am to 4pm and there are no spots in the lot, parking is quite reasonably priced AND the spots along 3 St S are zone 10, so you can stay for longer appointments at a cheaper rate!
The greatest source of happiness is the ability to be grateful at all times.
These pictures are from 2020, soon after our renovations were done. Thanks to the great people at Silver Ridge Construction - 1999 Ltd. for their hard work!

We hope to see all of our followers in 2024 to support your wellness journey! Wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year!
I love the excitement of something new, like a fresh start, but I’m not a fan of New Year’s resolutions. We should be hibernating like the bears right now 😆, just resting and processing.
My favourite thing to do is actually reflect back on the year we all just had. Where did it start, where am I now, what did I release from my life, what did I add into it, which friends/ family loved me through everything (and I give such gratitude for those people), who did I have the best times with, and who did I release/ who chose to leave from my life. What lessons have I learned and how did I FEEL this year.
We have all actually achieved so much since last January, but everyone always looks to the future. Don’t get me wrong, goal setting is wonderful so that you take inspired action towards the life you want, but that should happen whenever you feel it’s the right time to do that. So if that time is now, amazing! But if it’s not, and you’d rather be napping and hibernating, do that! Then take some time over these few days to look back at all the small accomplishments (they do add up!) and great memories made, and give yourself a pat on the back for making it through the year ❤️
I give gratitude to every patient, therapist and staff who walked through the doors of Back in Balance in 2023. Patients and clients who put their trust in us and we wouldn’t be here without, THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING US on your wellness journey; Therapists who took care of those who came to see them, and put their positive energy into their healing treatments and into the success of the space; Our wellness coordinators at the front end, who greeted you every day with their smiles and positive energy, who grew alongside me and truly support me in my vision; and I also recognize the challenges I overcame as an entrepreneur and the faith I have in myself to continue working towards this dream of creating a healing sanctuary for our community.
I am so grateful as I look back on 2023. 🙏🏽

Welcome to the BACK IN BALANCE: 12 DAYS OF WELLNESS GIVEAWAY! Leave a comment regarding today's wellness service (electro-acupuncture) for a chance to win.
Electro-acupuncture is a form of acupuncture in which small leads are connected to needles to supply a micro-current of electricity. Physiological effects vary from pain suppression to stimulation of tissue healing to reduction of inflammation and even enhancement of neurological functions. This is a modality that our acupuncturist, Chris Middleton, offers along with his acupuncture sessions.
Wait he’s going to stab me AND electrocute me?!?!
Don't worry, it's not painful. In fact, many people find the rhythmic nature of the pulses almost hypnotic
Is electro-acupuncture better than conventional acupuncture?
It’s not about what’s better, it’s merely another modality to enhance acupuncture’s already amazing benefits. Some people and conditions respond better with needles alone, and others find that the gentle electrical stimulation gives them more relief. As always, it's about finding the right balance for a given person. Electro-stim, as it's often called, simply gives us more options for achieving that balance.
What is it used to treat?
Our acupuncturist, Chris, most commonly use it to treat sports injuries such as sprains, strains, and tendonitis; muscle soreness, tension, and weakness; pain, and various neurological conditions such as stroke, tremors, numbness, sciatica, etc.; however, it has many other potential applications.
How does it compare to TENS machines (e.g. Dr. Ho's)?
Both devices apply a micro-current of electricity, the advantage of electro-acupuncture is that it synergistically combines the effects of electrical stimulation with acupuncture. It allows for more targeted delivery of the micro-current and deeper pe*******on, allowing it to reach deep into joints to treat things like knee arthritis or release deep muscles such as the piriformis. It also enhances scalp acupuncture (neuro acupuncture) for the treatment of various brain conditions.
Above all else, electro-acupuncture should be soothing not painful. If you've experienced electro-acupuncture before and found it painful, it was not being applied correctly. "No pain, no gain" does not apply here. Moderate stimulation maximizes efficacy and relief while avoiding unnecessary discomfort or soreness.
If you're curious if electro-acupuncture could benefit you, please leave a comment. If it has already benefited you, please tell us how. If you think it could benefit someone you know, tag them.
Merry Christmas (Eve)!
Welcome to the BACK IN BALANCE: 12 DAYS OF WELLNESS GIVEAWAY! Leave a comment regarding today's wellness service (Meditation) for a chance to win.
Meditation has been around for thousands of years. Meditation is most often used to relax and lower stress. It is a type of mind-body complementary medicine that can help you relax deeply and calm your mind.
During meditation, the focus is on the breath. The intention is to get rid of the stream of thoughts that may be overwhelming you and causing stress. This process can lead to better physical and emotional well-being.
The relaxation response helps get us out of fight or flight mode. It lowers blood pressure, can improve heart rate, expand the lungs through breathing deeper, and regulate brain waves. Tension and tightness seep away from muscles as the body receives a quiet message to relax. Other benefits include improved attention, memory, learning, and conscious perception, and a calmer, happier outlook on life.
We are excited to offer classes and opportunities to deepen your meditation practice at Back in Balance Wellness Centre in 2024!!
Welcome to the BACK IN BALANCE: 12 DAYS OF WELLNESS GIVEAWAY! Leave a comment regarding today's wellness service (Yoga) for a chance to win.
When Dr. Pardip first opened Back in Balance Wellness Centre in 2012, two of her biggest hopes outside of offering healing therapies like chiropractic, acupuncture and massage, was to help people have a calmer mind and less stress, and also to bring the community together for workshops, yoga and meditation. The original location didn’t have enough space to facilitate all of those dreams, so when she expanded, she made sure to create a space for that. Unfortunately, the move to a new location happened in 2020, so group classes were not able to happen. We have had some classes and workshops over the past years but in 2024, we finally plan to start offering a full schedule of yoga and meditation classes!
Yoga, which means “to yoke” or “union”, is seen as a very physical practice in the western world, all about holding intense poses. Some people see others in headstands and decide that they can’t practice yoga. But yoga is truly about connecting to your breath and calming your mind, more than it is about getting into a headstand or backbend. The poses, or asanas, are just one way to get you to focus your mind and connect to your breath. True yoga connects the spiritual, mental and physical practices together. That will be the focus here at Back in Balance with the yoga classes we will offer! Dr. Pardip took her yoga teacher training in 2014 in Thailand and is currently taking her second yoga teacher training course here in Lethbridge. We can’t wait to share our version of yoga with you.
What times would work best for you as we set our schedule? What styles of yoga are your favourite? We can’t wait to get started!
✨ Happy Winter Solstice ✨
Here’s to the dark night and return of the light!
Welcome to the BACK IN BALANCE: 12 DAYS OF WELLNESS GIVEAWAY! Leave a comment regarding today's wellness service (CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY) for a chance to win.
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is an energy healing technique that balances the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and relieves pressure in the head and neck, but at a more significant healing level, it can also release trauma that your body has stored within its cellular memory. It is often suggested by Dr. Pardip along with chiropractic care in our office if the issue has been long standing or isn’t responding to a regular chiropractic adjustment and muscle work through acupuncture or massage. Some conditions that CST can really help are migraines, headaches, concussion symptoms, whiplash injuries and pressure headaches from the drastic changes in temperatures and wind outside.
Often, the pain we feel isn’t just physical, but has an emotional component as well. At minimum, it feels like a great scalp massage, but in its truest form, it can calm the nervous system and release trauma that we have held onto since childhood, or from stressful periods of time in our adult lives.
The brain and spinal cord control everything in our body. These are protected by the skull and the spine, which is encased within a thin sheath, called the dura. The CSF pumps up and down, from the brain, down along the spinal cord and back up, from the cranium to the sacrum (hence CranioSacral Therapy), and keeps everything lubricated and nourished.
CST focuses on the gentle placement of hands and finger pressure on the scalp and sacrum, to help release tension in your body’s fascia system. The fascia forms a body-wide connective tissue network. The human body is interconnected, both structurally and functionally. This means that one area of your body can affect another. The goal of CST is tension relief (fascial clearance), both physically and mentality/ emotionally/ spiritually. This may help other parts of your body function better through self correcting and self regulating as the body releases and unwinds, for a more balanced CST flow.
You might think of it as a gentle massage technique, or a cross between chiropractic or osteopathic maneuvers and hands-on healing. Quiet and relaxing, inducing restful sleep, it’s been labeled mysterious. In reality, craniosacral therapy addresses a rhythmic system at the core of our physiology – the pulse of energy that flows between our head and pelvic area. It’s as essential, measurable, and tangible as our breath and heart rate. The craniosacral system follows a rhythm, and the skull bones accommodate its pulse. A craniosacral practitioner evaluates and optimizes the pulse of the craniosacral rhythm. This is a gentle, often deeply intuitive technique. It is something that everyone should try for relaxation, and for deep healing.
Welcome to the BACK IN BALANCE: 12 DAYS OF WELLNESS GIVEAWAY! Leave a comment regarding today's wellness service (food sensitivity testing) for a chance to win.
Food sensitivity testing is used to identify specific foods that may cause adverse reactions in an individual. Unlike food allergies, which involve the immune system, food sensitivities are often delayed and may manifest as digestive issues, headaches, acne or fatigue.
Leanne Creed utilizes applied kinesiology, and biofeedback techniques, along with BodyTalk testing to read if your body has an adverse reaction to vials holding different potential allergens. The style of testing that she uses is non invasive, and has been shown to concur with results from more expensive biofeedback techniques and blood work results.
Food sensitivity is individual, and what triggers reactions can vary. Therefore, a personalized approach is essential for effective management once sensitivities are identified.
If you are working towards a healthier system and are curious about any sensitivities you may have, reach out to see Leanne and she can support you through this journey.
Welcome to the BACK IN BALANCE: 12 DAYS OF WELLNESS GIVEAWAY! Leave a comment regarding today's wellness service (CHIROPRACTIC) for a chance to win.
Dr. Pardip is the Doctor of Chiropractic and Acupuncture Provider who opened Back in Balance Wellness Centre in 2012. She has practiced Acupuncture since 2001, Chiropractic since 2005, and Craniosacral Therapy since 2008. She is passionate about helping people to live a life with less stress, more ease, and a deeper awareness, in body, mind and spirit. She helps with injuries and pain, but seeing her patients have a great quality of life is her goal!
Chiropractors are primary contact practitioners (which means they can see patients without a referral from an MD). They focus on treating the spine by using their hands to examine and treat health conditions related to the bones, muscles, joints (musculoskeletal), and focus on the nerve irritation that can be found as nerves exit each spinal segment. Nerves are what send pain signals from the body to the brain, letting us know there is something “wrong”. By working on the muscles and adjusting the spine, this takes pressure off of the nervous system and teaches the spine to learn a new alignment. Pain is lessened and can completely resolve, posture is improved, and people notice a huge improvement in their quality of life and overall internal and external function! They sleep better, they can get through their work days with less discomfort, and they can even crawl around on the ground with their kids and grandkids, without any issue!
Chiropractic, at the bare minimum, helps to improves range of motion in your neck, back, shoulders, and hips. Chiropractic can be used on all joints! Ankles, knees, hips, wrists, elbows, shoulders, fingers and toes, ribs and even the jaw!
Routine chiropractic care is for everyone! Dr. Pardip loves working with pregnant women and babies/ toddlers/ kids as they grow, as well as elite athletes, seniors, students and adults in all types of jobs and with all fitness levels.
Dr. Pardip focuses on educating each person on their specific concerns but is not a pain based chiropractor. She focused on wellness and improving people’s quality of life. She always reminds people that pain isn’t “just a part of aging”. There are 80 year olds who need support with walking, sitting or standing, but there’s also 80 year old marathon runners. The more care we take of our spinal health now, the healthier we can be long term. If everything is always masked with pain medication, then you may miss those signals that your body is sending the brain letting you know that it needs some support .
There’s also many different techniques we can use, so that the experience feels good! It’s natural to be nervous before your first adjustment but you will get individualized care and a treatment style that you’re comfortable with, and Dr. Pardip will always make sure you’re relaxed and ready before doing any adjustments. She often will suggest adding acupuncture, massage, craniosacral, physiotherapy and energy healing, depending on what she finds while reviewing your intake form so that you’re aware of all of the options available to help you live your best life and get everything “back in balance” 😆
Welcome to the BACK IN BALANCE: 12 DAYS OF WELLNESS GIVEAWAY! Leave a comment regarding today's wellness service for a chance to win (more details in the comments).
Leanne Creed is our BodyTalk practitioner and is able to ascertain what your gut-brain and heart-brain are trying to tell your “brain” that sometimes we don’t consciously listen to. When we don’t listen to these messages, they can get stored deep in our cells.
Your brain talks to itself every day, and through our daily experiences, we encounter emotions and create subconscious beliefs called patterns. These patterns affect us throughout our entire lives.
Body Talk is an integrative approach using energy principles. The body communicates through energetic circuitry—each cell in the body communicates with every other cell. This intricate ecosystem balances biological and physiological functions with emotional and mental interaction with environmental and hereditary and gene-related restrictions.
When a body is at its best optimal level, each system, atom, and cell is in constant communication with each other at all times. At some point in our lives, these lines of communication can be compromised, which can lead to a decline in physical, emotional, and/or mental health.
Come in to see Leanne so that she can help you to release some of the patterns you have created that no longer serve you. In the session, you will lay on a comfortable massage table, fully clothed, and Leanne will be able to read the majority of the BodyTalk system through a light touch at your wrist. This energy healing is non-invasive and can help release old trauma and guide you to form new, healthier patterns.

Cupping has become more mainstream after people noticed athletes with round marks on their backs! This is not a new modality though!
Cupping originated as a way to move stagnant blood and qi flow through meridians, and was taught with acupuncture training. “Fire cupping” is the traditional technique, which uses glass cups that are quickly heating on the inside by swishing a cotton ball dipped in alcohol, then lit on fire 😅, and when the cup was warm inside, it was placed on the skin.
Cupping had such great results that massage therapists and physiotherapists added it to their curriculum. Instead of fire cupping using glass cups, majority of practitioners now use silicon and plastic cups.
In all styles, the cups suction to the skin and either slid back and forth like a massage or placed stationary for a more focused approach. It helps alleviate pain, stretches fascia, and draws fresh blood into the region to accelerate healing.
At Back in Balance, cupping is offered by Chris with acupuncture or Makita and Pushpinder with massage therapy. It works synergistically to enhance either treatment option. Have you tried it yet? Request it during your sessions if you would like to give it a try!

Do you know which services your workplace benefits include? Often there is a section under Paramedical Services, which includes chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, and some plans even have a health spending account! Have you been using yours? People often don’t think of it this way, but you pay into this plan, and it’s there to help you stay well and take care of your physical and mental health!
We at Back in Balance Wellness Centre educate our clients and patients to listen to their bodies. We often suggest booking for regular monthly preventative care for all of the services we offer, and not to base their care solely on what their benefits will cover. However, we absolutely understand that finances are tight for many people, especially in recent years! Your benefits can help offset the cost of your wellness care.
Check to see if yours rollover on January 1st. If so, maybe you have some remaining to use before the end of the year! We are quite booked up at this point, however we can put you on our cancellation list, and also get you booked in for January to start the year off in a healthy way!
Chris Middleton has a select few spots remaining for Initial Assessments and treatments for acupuncture in the next 2 weeks! Contact us to book in!
