This homeowner wanted to get rid of the gray before unpacking her new home. This gorgeous, rich burgundy was a perfect choice for her master bedroom.
We used Lifemaster Matte in the Benjamin Moore color Deep Burgundy color matched by Dulux.

Brought this porch back to life!
It was stained with an acrylic product, so I sanded all of it off entirely to ensure that the new stain would be able to pe*****te completely.
I then stained everything with Dulux Exterior Semi-Transparent Oil finish in the color Cedar.
This stain will hold up for years without fading.
It looks beautiful and the customers are very happy.

This was a bigger project than it would normally be. The previous painter used latex over oil paint without the correct primer, so I spent hours scraping off the old paint and wiping the rest with acetone.
I then primed with BIN by Zinsser shellac base, then repainted the same color of red with Dulux Diamond Exterior.

I went to do a quote recently....
The realtor was from Toronto, had hired a painter here and he didn't finish the job. I was quoting to finish the rest of it.
I would like to say that after all of these years, nothing shocks me anymore....but, this was ridiculous.
The "painter" had sprayed everything in just over half of the property.
And when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING.
Improperly covered floors, sprayed the doorknobs and plate covers and used SEMI GLOSS on the WALLS because he was too lazy and inexperienced to switch to a different sheen from the trim paint. He did no caulking or fixing walls and did not use the correct products on the metal exterior doors.
People often hire the lowest quote and this is what they end up with.
I am not the most expensive painter out there. I am mid priced and I provide high quality workmanship.
PLEASE do not make the same mistake this realtor did. Research, ask for references and know that the lowest quote is low for a reason!
It is now going to cost the property owner another $3000+ to repaint all of the walls, caulk frames and baseboards, do wall repairs, finish what wasn't done at all, replace outlet/switch plates and hire a cleaner to remove the spray from the floors and hardware.
They tried to save money but it ended up costing more in the long run.

Great explanation.
If you choose to accept the lowest quote you're given, chances are, you are dealing with someone who will do your job cheaply or incorrectly. You will then spend MORE money to hire another painter to correct these issues.
A true professional is not cheap. I will always try to work within your budget, however, there's only so much we can flex.

CONTRACTOR - $2,800 dollars.

CLIENT – That’s too expensive for this job!
CONTRACTOR – How much do you think it should cost?

CLIENT – $800 max! It’s a simple job!
CONTRACTOR – I can’t do the job for so little.

CLIENT – People in your line of work wants to make a huge profit!
CONTRACTOR – I’m sorry you feel this way. Why don’t you do the job?

CLIENT – But, but, I don’t know how to do any of that.
CONTRACTOR – For $900, I can teach you everything you need to know to do the job. You can then use $800 to do the job, and you’re still saving $1,100. Also, you will obtain all the knowledge and the experience for the next time you need to do this job.

CLIENT – Deal!
CONTRACTOR – Great! To start, you need to buy tools. You will need a chipping hammer, a nail gun, a laser, a drill, a mixer machine, PPE, and some other things.

CLIENT – But, I don’t have any of those tools and I can’t buy all that for just one job!
CONTRACTOR – Ok. I can rent you my tools for another $300. You’re still saving $800.

CLIENT – That’s cutting my savings, but I will rent your tools.
CONTRACTOR – Perfect! I’ll be back Saturday and we can start.

CLIENT – Wait! I can’t Saturday. I only have time today.
CONTRACTOR – I’m sorry, I only teach others on Saturdays. I have to prioritize my time and my tools needs to be on other jobs I have during the week.

CLIENT – Ok then. I will sacrifice my family’s plans on Saturday.
CONTRACTOR – Right, me too! Oh, I forgot. If you’re going to do the job yourself, you need to buy the materials. There’s a high demand nowadays, so your best bet is to get a truck and be at the hardware store by 6am before other contractors get there.

CLIENT – AT SIX IN THE MORNING? On Saturday? That’s too early for me. I don’t even have a truck!
CONTRACTOR – I guess you’ll have to rent one. By the way, do you have some helpers to help you load the truck?

CLIENT – You know what? I’ve been thinking. Probably is better for you to do the job. It’s better to pay you to do the job right and not having to go through all that hassle.
CONTRACTOR – Good thinking. Sign here and let me get to work.

Introduction time!
My name is Janet Vandenassem.
I was born and raised in Grey/Bruce counties in the 80's and 90's.
I moved to Woodstock, Ontario in 2004 where I bought a house (built in 1888) and lived for 15 years. I became a single parent in 2010.
I had done some painting and renovations for family and friends and my own apartments and home since my teenage years. So, I decided that would be my career choice.
I was blessed to find a job working for a local builder where I had an amazing mentor who taught me to be meticulous and to be proud of my work. I am forever grateful to him for making me who I am today!
I departed after 4 years and started taking on my own jobs for a couple of years.
I then started working with a company who did renovations in Skyline apartment buildings across Ontario. The days were long and it was hard work but I was able to see many beautiful towns and gain more experience outside of painting such as demolition, flooring, drywall and everything in between.
I sold my home in 2020 and moved to London, Ontario. I absolutely love the city and look forward to meeting new people and spending many more years here.
Unfortunately, being a single parent, traveling was no longer beneficial.
I reached out to several local contractors and found one who was willing to hire me.
I am still subcontracting with him and now, another contractor and doing my own jobs!
He has taught me so much in the few years that I've been with him and has become like family to me.
So, here I am, over 10 years into my career and I absolutely love it. I have always been a creative person and was taught excellent work ethic. It gives me great pride to do my best and to make my customers happy.
I look forward to growing, learning and to thrive in a field where I am comfortable doing what I love!

Cutting around wood trim is difficult. I guarantee clean cut lines every time. (We did not paint the ceiling)
We took these rooms from a dark taupe to off white. Homeowners were thrilled with how much it opened up the space and let more light in.
