After 15 amazing years of creating, innovating, and sailing through the brand development seas together, Skysail Brand is charting a new course. We are announcing the closure of our company, but this is a joyous moment as we celebrate the journey we’ve taken together.
Our success and growth over the years have been possible because of you—our loyal clients. Your trust in us, your collaborative spirit, and your continuous support have been the wind in our sails. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunities to work with such wonderful partners and to have been a part of your brand’s journey.
We have decided to close Skysail Brand to pursue new horizons and adventures, taking with us the experiences and lessons learned along the way. This decision comes from a place of positivity and excitement for the future.

GRITTY TO PRETTY PLACEMAKING GRANT CALL OUT
Calling all creatives!
Applications for our Gritty to Pretty Placemaking Grant program are now open!
Every year, a limited number of Gritty to Pretty grants are awarded to artists who want to put their mark on Downtown Halifax through public art pieces.
There are 5 grant streams:
- Mural Grant
- Open Grant
- Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC) Mural Grant
- BIPOC Open Grant and
- Façade Lighting Grant
We highly encourage folks applying to think outside the box this year. Think maybe enhancing doors/windows or maybe panels for storefronts?
We’re up for large- and small-scale projects, as long as they enhance the pedestrian experience Downtown!
Multiple submissions are welcome, with each project being eligible for up to $10,000.
The application deadline is Sunday, June 16, 2024 so get your applications in now!

Big announcement! Creative Pictou County is pleased to present the inaugural Economic Development Forum for Artists!
Join us on June 8 in the Town of Pictou to learn how to turn your hometown into an art destination!
Workshop facilitator Paul Portelli will share his experience as an artist, gallery owner and community leader and how he and a team of community champions revitalized the town of Warkworth, Ontario into a thriving art town.
The day will begin with a panel of our own community champions moderated by Wade Tibbo from the Pictou County Partnership Wade will be joined by Eric Stackhouse the Chief Librarian for the Pictou, Antigonish Regional Library; Michelle Young the Community Development Officer for the Town of Pictou; Crystal Murray the Editor In Chief Saltscapes Magazine and President of Advocate Media and Troy Greencorn the Executive Director for deCoste Performing Arts Centre.
Along with the forum on June 8, we are inviting attendees to a mix and mingle event on June 7 to kick off the weekend. We welcome those from away to see what the beautiful Town of Pictou has to offer, while connecting and networking with local artists and community champions.
The cherry on top of a dynamic weekend is a Morgan Toney concert at the Pictou Legion! This JUNO Award Nominee is a Mi’kmaq fiddler and singer from Cape Breton Island who will be sure to captivate the audience with an amazing performance.
Forum attendees will get access to a discounted package to attend both the forum and the concert.
