Polson Bourbonniere Derby, in recognition of these difficult times, has launched our "Helping Clients Help" campaign. Each month we will be making a donation to a worthy charity, as nominated by our clients - many of whom are doing amazing things to support their communities. For the month of May, and due to popular demand, we supported Canada Food Banks. For the month of June, our donation went to Covenant House, another organization that our clients urged us to support. Covenant House serves youth who are homeless, trafficked or at risk. They provide hundreds of youth each day with food, shelter and medical care. Check out their website, and if you would like to donate here is their link: https://covenanthousetoronto.ca/.

I think we can all benefit from a little perspective and some words of encouragement this afternoon. Even a little optimism.

The world is enduring temporary economic losses to minimize real human losses. The actions being taken globally that are putting temporary pressure on our portfolio balances will save human lives. Human decency compels us to make such a trade.

The developed world is marshalling all of its wealth and resources to defeat this health crisis. We are getting daily, hourly policy announcements as governments and municipalities do what they can to slow the spread of the virus and find ways to get relief into the hands of citizens that are hurting the most.

The smartest people on the planet are working around the clock to put effective tools into the hands of physicians, financial institutions, and policy makers.

There is an unprecedented amount of stimulus in place.

If history repeats itself, the bottom for markets may not occur when we beat COVID19. The bottom may occur when we begin to fight back.

That fight is ramping up each and every day.

History tells us that when the recovery occurs, it will likely be sudden, sharp, and impossible to time.

Our behaviour is our most powerful weapon against sickness and permanent loss of capital.

Don't touch your face; don't touch your portfolio.
