Thankyou to PEACE Rescue & Farm Sanctuary for inviting us out to learn all about the animals that you have rescued and to get to experience the natural beauty that the land has to offer.

Such lucky little animals that get to call this sprawling land home for the rest of their lives. 🌲🌿🌲🌻

We look forward to visiting again in the future!

Rainy days can be challenging..... 🌧
BUT....
They can also present wonderful opportunities to explore all sorts of learning that we don't normally get the opportunity to do on a regular basis.

✅️Puddle jumping
✅️Shelter building
✅️Listening to the music of raindrops coming down
✅️Noticing the differences in the environment
✅️Playing rainy day forest games and learning to keep our bodies warm

💧💧All while building resiliency and learning to be adaptable & flexible in challenging times. 💧💧

👉Creek investigation is a big part of our nature programs.

We get curious, explore, learn, play and build long lasting memories and connections! 🐸🐸
In turn, it builds appreciation and understanding of the natural world which creates a more caring, compassionate, and conscious human being. 💓

The almighty Dandelion 🌼
"Tooth of the lion" - loosely translated

Today we foraged for clean unsprayed dandelions and made a delicious Dandelion syrup which we had on our Crumpets and drizzled in our lemonade at tea time. 🍋🍋

We enjoyed tasty dandelion cookies that one of the children made and spent time admiring the beauty and learning about medicinal powers of these bright yellow blooms beaming in the spring sunlight.

👉 PACIFIC SIDEBAND SNAIL

Did you know❓️❓️
This is the largest land snail on the pacific coast and is most commonly found on deciduous forest floors.

Keep your eyes out next time you're strolling through the woods and count yourself lucky if you see one as they are quite rare!

🍁Meet the delicate & delicious MAPLE BLOSSOM🍁🍁
Have you spotted these bright green little flowers hanging off the trees this season? 👀

One of nature first springtime wild foods . These little clusters hang precariously off the ends of big leaf maple branches.

They are packed with vitamin.C , calcium, iron and many trace minerals. MAPLE blossom are usually eaten raw or lightly cooked. Some say they take like lima beans or broccoli.
They are wonderful dipped in batter and lightly fried to make a fritter like this recipe below. 👇👇

https://tallcloverfarm.com/11532/maple-blossoms-fried

Maple Blossoms have been foraged and consumed as traditional food for indigenous peoples across north America for many generations.
LET FOOD BE THY MEDICINE🙌

🌿Be mindful when you forage.
🌿Only take what you will eat right away as blossoms don't keep well .
🌿Tread lightly on the earth
🌿Harvest far away from roadsides and railways( less heavy metals and toxins).

Forage with an attitude of gratitude and thankfulness💕
