WordsWednesdays – Give your child a reason to communicate by offering a choice. When we give children a choice, it allows them to have more independence, which means fewer power struggles. It also encourages more communication through gestures, body language or maybe even words.

Be Gentle with yourself❤
It is not easy to be human, and it is not easy to be a parent - that's for sure.
And so many of the parents in our community here are often parents of gladiator kids who are just sassy and exhausting and they suck the oxygen out of the room.
And sometimes they can just take you to those darkest places in your soul that you didn't know were there.
So you need to give yourself some real love and some real understanding so that you can be present with your children, show them that emotional regulation is possible.
Keep trying, you'll get there.

Take a look at the list of what a Super PARENT can be! Remember put your oxygen mask on first in order to help others!
Thanks to Happy as a Mother for this important reminder. I really like that this image includes taking medication as we discussed this last week in the Mama Village mothers groups in relation to antidepressants for postnatal depression and anxiety. Medication is not for everyone, but sometimes it has an important role in helping a mother recover, feel like herself again and be the best mother she can be to her little ones.
"A super mom is often portrayed as someone who does it all, has it all together, is extremely organized, works when the baby sleeps, makes home cooked meals, does pinterest activities with the children, all while looking flawless.
This is not real life.
This is not a realistic ideal.
We need to adjust out definition of what a super mom really looks like.
A true super mom is a mom is prioritizes her own needs and self care.
A mom who accepts her shortcomings and doesn't expect perfection.
A mom who asks for help and knows she can't possible do it all.
A mom who consciously chooses not to do it all.
A mom who makes decisions with confidence based on her internal values.
A mom who respects others approach to parenting but knows that she doesn't have to adopt others approaches as her own.
This is the type of motherhood we need to be aspiring to.
Not the run yourself into the ground trying to be and do all of the things ideal that circulates in the media and society.
What super mom pressures have you been feeling lately?
Let's embody a new type of super mom, one who's strength is in knowing her boundaries, committing to self care, fulfilling her needs, and knowing her values ❤️"

Dear Staff and Parents Please note school closures for Monday, June 28th have been updated. Since Friday afternoon, Monday’s temperature has increased, and our AC units are struggling in a number of buildings. Therefore, I am closing schools to staff for Monday, June 28th.
Our plan for Tuesday is a shortened day. As elementary schools have a number of events planned/postponed that now need to fit into Tuesday, we will be planning on a day that ends for students at 11am, with buses coming early to accommodate this. While considerably cooler than Monday, heat will still be a significant factor, so we ask that everyone use caution on Tuesday as well.
Of course, things might change, so you can check our website, Twitter, etc as things develop. Please stay out of the heat.
Take care,
Angus Wilson
