We are also looking for new plays! Are you a playwrights, or do you have a story to tell? We are accepting submissions now until Feb 29, 2024 for a series of short plays to run in May/June of 2024. Submitted plays must run no longer than 30 minutes, have minimal set and tech requirements, and a small cast. Plays chosen will be workshopped and then produced onstage. You may think that you know the story of Pinocchio, but I bet you don't! Did you know that Pinocchio doesn't hang out with a cricket, he has Lido, Guido and Cheeto, a luna moth, a blue beetle and a ladybug. The 17th Annual ONTS Christmas Panto is three weeks away, and you won't want to miss it! This year it's Pinocchio, and the happy wooden puppet will charm your socks off as he navigates the big wide world, learning about school, commerce, whales, bugs and the real meaning of family. Fairy Nice and Fairy Naughty meddle as usual, and there are lots of silly songs and jokes as usual! It's fun for the whole family, and a family pass is only $45! (Two adults, two kids 12 and under). We've got auditions coming up for our March show- The Boat in the Tiger Suit by Hank Willenbrink, directed by Matt McCarthy. Auditions will be Dec 4 & 6th at 7pm at Opening Nite Theatre. No appointment is necessary. Possible callbacks on Dec 8 or 9.
Set on two different boats, The Boat in the Tiger Suit is a dark comedy set at the funeral of Herman, a man who left his family to join the army (and hide from his wife in the process). From there, the play quirkily explores the uncomfortable truths of death and family
Characters are Herman, the deceased soldier; Mom, his long-suffering wife; April, his daughter; Rene, his son; Dave, April's husband; and Gene (POC), the Puerto Rican soldier who served with Herman. For audition sides, go to www.openingnitetheatre.com

Did you know that this is the 18th year of ONTS Pantos? We only missed one year- 2021, when we screened past Pantos. Other than that, we have had a new, fresh, fun and exciting Panto each year! This year is Pinocchio, and tickets will be on sale soon! Fairy Nice and Fairy Naughty are all ready to rock and roll, along with a superb cast who can't wait to bring you the ultimate in silliness and fun!

Panto Auditions!
Auditions for ONTS's Annual Panto are happening soon! Pinocchio is this year's show, and auditions are Wednesday, October 18th at 7pm at Opening Nite Theatre, 33223 Railway Ave in Mission. Come prepared to cold read and to sing a song of your choice. We are looking for men and women of all ages with strong comedic skills, and if you play an instrument, that's a bonus! Pinocchio will run December 15-23 and Jan 5-14. Anyone wishing to audition who is not available on October 18th can email Camille at [email protected] to arrange another audition time if possible.

All members and people wishing to become members are encouraged to attend, to have their say in the election of a new board, and in the workings of the society for the upcoming year. We are seeking new board members, so if you are interested, come on down!
Membership is renewed annually, and anyone wishing to renew membership or purchase a new membership can do so at the AGM or by clicking here.
Refreshments and socializing will follow the AGM, so come on out and meet some theatre folks!
We are always looking for new volunteers! If you are interested in helping out, we do need Front of House volunteers. Commitment can be one performance or many per show, and all necessary training will be provided.
Looking for something a bit more? We are looking for a new Front of House coordinator. The job entails emailing volunteers prior to the show and scheduling shifts, as well as purchasing Front of House refreshments.If you are interested in volunteering, email [email protected].

Our 2023/2024 season opens in October with This Day Forward by Nicky Silver, directed by Norma Rushton. Audition dates are Monday August 21 and Tuesday August 22 at 7pm. No appointment needed, just show up at 7 on either day, prepared to cold read. Show info below.
This Day Forward is a comedy in two acts. Act one takes place in 1958. It is Martin and Irene’s wedding night and Irene confesses that she doesn’t love Martin. She loves Emil. The action takes place in a swanky hotel room with the chambermaid and the bellhop weighing in.
The second act takes place in the early 2000s. The style and tone of the show changes as Noah, Martin and Irene’s son, learns to deal with his mother’s declining mental faculties. It is in this act that we find out what happened to Martin and Irene and Emil.
