Cardinal is no longer submerged!
Update. Cardinal St is no longer submerged in water. We imagine the City of Mission Public Works will be investigating the cause and assess damage. Thank you beautiful community members for banding together and helping eachother, including Mission Search & Rescue Society who were on standby and assisting folks. Will update if we hear anymore.
We have become aware that there are currently visitors in Steelhead that are stuck there due to Cardinal Street flooding and road closure.
There will be an opportunity for these folks to leave the area this afternoon as passengers.
▶️ Between the hours of 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, Mission Search and Rescue are able to ferry passengers from EAST to WEST (one way only). Visitors who are stranded in Steelhead can be boated out of the area at this time.
There will be absolutely no vehicles permitted to use the road.
This service is for passengers ONLY. Those being ferried out of Steelhead will have to secure their own transportation once they are transported across by boat.
This service is ONLY for those visiting Steelhead who have residences out of the area and want to return home.
Mission SAR will only ferry passengers from EAST to WEST - this is not intended for residents who live in the area to leave and return later.
If you need MSAR to assist please call 911!
CARDINAL FLOODING 🌧
The road is closed just past Cardinal Place and under 4' + of water. Some neighbours have brought boats out incase anyone needs to get home/get out.
Mission Fire Rescue Service and Mission Search & Rescue Society have been notified as well about the situation.

Last night Mission SAR had a fundraising dinner, our goal was to raise enough funds to set up a permanent repeater to enhance our communications in the field.
We would like to thank a few businesses and organizations that helped to make this night a huge success.
Steelhead Community Association donated the use of the hall! It was a beautiful location for the event.
Paliotti’s catered the delicious dinner and dessert for the evening.
Stave Falls Flourals donated the center pieces and decorations.
The silent auction items were from Bent Hooks Fishing Adventures, Scandinave Spa, Project Climbing, Banter Ice cream, Leah Krieg Photography, Golden Eagle Golf Club and HubCo.
And of course, our guests who attended and contributed to our goal! Thank you so much!

One of the things I love most about living in is all the nonprofit organizations working hard to make our community a better place. Today, the Mission Search & Rescue Society received a $118K for projects that help them to do this work.
The Mission Search and Rescue Society will be purchasing a new jet boat to replace MSAR's primary boat, M1, that was purchased approximately 20 years ago. Grant will be used to purchase a 20.5-foot aluminum hull jet boat, two chart plotters which will function as the dash of the boat, wireless headsets for intercom and radio communications, hull, bow, and tower lights, and an outboard motor to be used as a backup motor and for operations in shallow waters.
Congratulations and thank you for your incredible work!
