Pictured here is a picture from 1959 that shows Canadian Wrestling Champion Whipper Billy Watson meeting some crippled children at the No. 3 fire station on Bonaccord St. Mr. Watson would travel all over Canada to make appearances to promote fundraising for these kids. He paid all his own expenses and did not accept any payment for his charitable work.
Moncton Firefighters used to have a Winter Carnival at the Moncton Stadium, to raise money for charitable organizations. This picture is circa 1965 and shows the firefighters bringing the 1926 LaFrance Pumper into the rink with some friends on board.

The 2022 Moncton Firemen's Community Fund calendar will feature an insert that will honor members of our department who served in the military before becoming firefighters. We will feature over 40 men who served their country with distinction.
Calendars will be selling for $ 4.00 with proceeds going to local charities. They will be available starting Nov. 13 at all Needs stores in the Greater Moncton area, Lyons Country store, Point ParK Convenience, Coverdale Road Convenience, Stirling Apples, Reades Book store Mountain Road, Race Trac Convenience store, Jean's Restaurant and Shoppers Drug store 681 Mountain Road after Nov. 24
This is a really great group of firefighters. For obvious reasons, they are all very near and dear to my heart.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing the new calendar coming out in November.
Not long before Dad died, he actually sponsored and paid for several of the war veterans ads featured in this calendar. All of the “advertising” space in the calendar is very fairly priced and it’s how they raise the money they do for all the local charities. Even though it wasn’t a lot of money, as soon as Dad found out that some families couldn’t afford it, he immediately said he would pay for every family that needed it. That’s just who he was .
So I decided to purchase an ad space in this calendar just FOR Dad. I figured it was a win win situation.
I get to help the firefighters raise money to help local charities in our community AND I get to honour my fathers 32 year career.
Many people may not know this, but my fathers death has been officially deemed as a “ died in the line of duty” death.
I will be purchasing some of these calendars to have a few on hand in my new “dream shop “ once it’s up and running. ❤️it
The Moncton Firemen's Community Fund is a group of Active and Retired Moncton Firefighters and our main purpose is to assist local charities in our community. To do that, for the past several years we have produced a Fire Prevention calendar that hopefully keeps people on the alert for potential fire hazards. Also in our calendar we show pictures of old buildings in the Greater Moncton area as well as fires that have happened over the years.
This years calendar will feature the Brunswick Hotel, Scoudouc Airbase, LeBlanc Block fire, Palace Restaurant and many more. We will also have a special 4 page insert in the calendar, called " A Few Good Men ' which will honor members of our department who fought in WW1, WW2, Korea and Afghanistan. Many pictures and stories will make up the nearly 40 firefighter/soldier of our department.
Each year we donate funding raised from selling ads in our calendar, to 6 local charities- Salvation Army, Atlantic Burn Camp for Kids, House of Nazareth, Crossroads for Women ,Moncton Headstart school supplies and Christmas Daddies. In the past we have given our calendars away at no charge but because things have changed drastically in the past few months, our charities need more funding to help their projects. So this year with the help of Needs Convenience stores, we are selling our calendars for $3.50 plus tax. Other outlets are getting on board to help out including Stirlings Fruit Market, Dad's and Lad's barbershop and hopefully more to come. Also we offer to deliver the calendars for a small fee.
Hopefully we can bring in funds to help these organizations keep doing the good work that they do. Also our organization has recently joined the New Brunswick FireFighters 50/50 Weekly Jackpot Draw which will involve Fire Departments throughout N.B. in raising money for firefighting equipment and many firefighter sponsored charitable groups in our Province. More news on this later but plans are to have the first draw by the end of this month.
So that's a little bit of information on who we are and what we do. If anyone has questions about our Not For Profit organization you can contact the undersigned ' This years calendar is scheduled to be here by mid November.
