“So I tell you this. You should not worry about how to stay alive. Do not worry about the food and drink that you need. Do not worry about the clothes that you need to wear. Your life is more important than the food that you eat. Your body is more important than your clothes. Think about the wild birds. They do not plant seeds in the ground. They do not cut down plants to eat. They have no buildings to store food. But God, your Father in heaven, gives them food to eat. You are much more valuable than the birds. Even if you always worry about your life, you cannot make it as much as one hour longer! You should not worry about your clothes. Think about how the wild flowers grow. They do not work or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you this. Even one wild flower is more beautiful than King Solomon was. And King Solomon wore the most beautiful clothes. It is God that gives beautiful clothes even to the grass. One day the grass is growing in the field, but the next day people will cut it and burn it. God will certainly take care of you, much more than he takes care of the grass. You should trust him more than you do! So do not worry about these things. Do not always say, “What will we eat?”, or “What will we drink?”, or “What will we wear?” People who do not know God are always trying to get these things. But as for you, your Father in heaven knows that you need them. Instead, always think about the things that are important in the kingdom of heaven. Always do what God shows you is right. Then he will also give you the things that you need each day. So do not have trouble in your mind about what might happen tomorrow. Tomorrow will have its own problems. It is enough for you to be thinking each day about the problems of that day.’”

“People make plans in their minds, but the Lord gives them the right words to say. You may think that everything you do is right, but the Lord knows exactly why you are doing it. Put your plans in front of the Lord, so that what you want to do will go well. The Lord causes everything to have its proper result. Even wicked people will come to bad trouble in the end. The Lord hates everyone who boasts. Be sure of this: They will receive the punishment that they deserve. If you love the Lord faithfully, he will forgive your sins. If you respect and obey him, you will not do evil things. If you live in a way that pleases the Lord, even your enemies will become your friends. If you do what is right but you are not rich, that is better than to be rich because you cheat people. People make plans for what they will do, but it is the Lord who leads them in the right way. A king speaks with God's authority. He must judge people in a fair way. The Lord wants people to use true weights and measures. He knows all the weights that a trader uses. Kings hate all wicked acts, because justice makes their government strong. Kings are happy to hear honest advice. They love people who speak true words. Someone may die if the king becomes angry with him. So a wise person will try to stop the king's anger. If the king smiles at you, your life will go well. If he is pleased with you, that is like a cloud which gives rain in the spring. It is better to have wisdom than gold or silver. You should want to understand what is right. Honest people follow a straight road that keeps them away from evil things. If you want to keep your life safe, watch where you are going. If you are proud, you will soon come to an end. Anyone who boasts will soon fall down. You may be humble and have poor people as your friends. But that is better than if you have proud friends who give you things that they have robbed from others. If you listen carefully to good teaching, you will do well. If you trust in the Lord, you are in a happy place. If you have wise thoughts, people will say that you know what is right. If you speak kind words, people will accept your teaching. Wisdom is like a spring of fresh water that gives life to those who have it. But the silly things that fools do brings them punishment. Wise people think carefully and they speak wise words. Then other people will accept their teaching. Kind words are as sweet as honey. They also bring health and strength. You may think that you are on a good, straight road. But in the end, that road may lead you to death. When a worker feels hungry, it causes him to work more. So it helps him to get food to eat. Wicked people look for ways to hurt other people. The cruel things that they say are like flames of fire. People who tell lies cause arguments. If you tell people's secrets, you will lose all your friends. Violent people deceive their friends. They lead their friends to do wrong things. If someone sends secret messages with his eyes, he has a plan to hurt someone. If he squeezes his lips together, he is ready to do an evil thing. Grey hair is like a beautiful crown on your head! People who live in a righteous way may wear it. A person who is patient is better than a brave soldier. If you can control your anger, you can win any battle. People throw dice to choose what is right. But it is the Lord who decides the answer.”

1 TIMOTHY 6:1-21

“All slaves should know that it is right to respect their masters. Then other people will not insult God's name or the message that we teach. Slaves who have masters who are also believers must continue to respect them. As believers, the slave and his master are like brothers together. But that slave must not refuse to obey his master because of that. Instead, he should work even better for his master. He should do that because he loves his master as a believer. Teach these things and tell people to obey them. Some people teach a false message that is different. Their message does not agree with the true message that our Lord Jesus Christ taught. They do not teach people to live in a way that pleases God. People like that think that they are very clever. But they do not really understand anything. They like to argue about things which are not important. They like to quarrel about words. As a result, people become jealous of one another, and they become angry with each other. They insult other people and they think bad things about them. Their minds have become confused and they argue all the time. They refuse to believe God's true message. They think that they will become rich if they say that they are serving God. What makes our life really rich? We should serve God in a way that pleases him and be happy with the things that we have. When we were born, we brought nothing with us into this world. When we die, we cannot take anything with us out of the world. So, if we have enough food and clothes, we should be happy with that. But some people want to have lots of money. This causes them to do wrong things. They cannot get free from their bad ways, like an animal in a trap. They want many things for themselves. Their foolish thoughts hurt them and finally destroy their lives. When people like to have lots of money, it causes all kinds of bad things to happen. Some people have stopped believing the message about Christ because they want to get more money. As a result, they have caused themselves to become sad with many troubles. But you, Timothy, are a servant of God. So keep away from all bad things like that. Instead, always try to do what is right. Serve God in a way that pleases him. Choose to trust God and to love other people. Continue to be strong when you have trouble. Be kind to people. Continue to believe God's true message. Be like someone who fights well to keep it safe. God has chosen you to live with him for ever. You stood in front of many people and said clearly that you believed in Jesus Christ. So live in a way that shows that you belong to him. Christ Jesus himself spoke God's true message clearly when he stood in front of Pontius Pilate. I now say this to you, in front of God who causes all things to be alive, and in front of Jesus. You must obey the commands that you have received. Obey them completely without any mistake until our Lord Jesus Christ returns. God will cause Christ to appear at the proper time. God is great, and he alone rules with all authority. He is the greatest King and the most powerful Lord. God alone lives for ever. He lives in very bright light that nobody can come near. Nobody has ever seen God. Nobody is able to see him. So we praise him! He will rule for ever with great authority! Amen! This is true. Warn those people who are rich with many things that belong to this world. Tell them not to think that they are more important than other people. They must not think that their money will keep them safe. They could easily lose all of it. Instead, they should trust God. He gives us many things, so that we can enjoy all of them. Tell those rich people to do many good things to help other people. They should be very kind to other people and share their things with them. In that way they will store valuable things for themselves in heaven. These things will be a strong help for them in the future. As a result, they will have true life with God. Timothy, God has given you his true message to tell people. You must keep that message safe. Do not listen to people who say a lot of silly things that are not important to God. Those people think that they have special knowledge. But their ideas are against God's true message. Some people have believed those wrong ideas and now they no longer trust God. I pray that God will continue to be very kind to all of you.”
