It's getting cooler here on Vancouver Island and that means we could be in for almost any type of weather. People will be spending more time indoors and that means that they will be turning on heaters and more home electronics.
We don't want the first few days of your winter to have you feeling like the Captain of the Enterprise yelling "Damage Report"!
Get your home checked by us to ensure that all of your systems are at 100%.
As the storm starts to die down we just wanted to give a big shoutout to the BC Hydro crews that have been working hard to keep the power on last night and today. We really appreciate what you do for us!
Hopefully everyone survived the severe winds yesterday and were not kept awake all night worrying like we were. It was one of those days where we woke up just before the alarm sounded. Nothing worse than trying to squeeze that last minute of sleep in.
Just wanted to wish everyone a great week! Come on, do it!
Hopefully, everyone survived the severe winds yesterday and was not kept awake all night worrying like we were. It was one of those days where we woke up just before the alarm sounded. Nothing worse than trying to squeeze that last minute of sleep in.
From our family to yours...have a great long weekend! Stay safe, eat lots, and love even more.
It has been really busy for us lately at CBS. People are starting to move their projects inside, and get ready for winter. That also means checking smoke alarms and replacing batteries.
Some people have been getting us to install a couple of electrically wired smoke alarms in their houses as a redundancy method of fire detection in the event batteries ever fail.
We want everyone to have a safe October! Happy Fire Prevention Week!
Welcome to Fall! According to the Weather Network, Victoria is supposed to have a warmer than normal fall this year. That does not mean that the rain is not coming and that dampness that chills us right to the bone.
This is the time to make sure that any electrical heating needs are taken care of so that there is no rush when the weather turns.
Better to be prepared than panic.
Book your fall electrical projects with us today and coast into fall with confidence!
They're going back! That's right! The house is ours again during the day!
Now we have some time to plan out our home office for our side hustle, and what we need in there is heat! A toe kicker heater or baseboard heater would make things nice and toasty when we are working on getting our gift basket business going.
Remember to call us at CBS to get your fall projects in the cue so that you can enjoy your time as the weather gets grey and rainy outside.
It has been a tough year for everyone financially due to the pandemic, and perhaps it is time to take in a renter to help with the mortgage? You start digging around in your spare room and realize that it was designed in the '70s without the thought of all of today's electronics.
Do you dive into your box of possibly working power bars with the hopes of blowing a fuse, or do you call CBS to get the real story behind your wall?
Let us help you avoid the guesswork. Contact us today for a free estimate.
Here we go again. Stay cool everyone, and call CBS before you install that new air conditioner.
Heat warning issued for Metro Vancouver, other areas as temps expected to soar | Globalnews.ca Temperatures ranging from 34 C to 38 C, combined with overnight lows near 17 C to 20 C, are expected for the next four days.
Many companies in Victoria, BC are starting to push the installation of home security systems, due to the increase of random crimes hitting the city. Nothing wrong with protecting what is yours, but can your current electrical system handle the additional load of a security system? Check with us at CBS to make sure that your home can handle the additional system, or better yet, just have us do the complete security system install! That way there will be no power issue surprises later.
Everyone at the CBS family wants to wish everyone in BC all the best for a safe BC Day weekend! Stay cool! Get vaccinated, and stay safe. We'll look forward to seeing everyone on Tuesday!

Yes....yes I called my golf buddies to help rewire the basement. No, they are not here anymore. Can someone just come over and have a look?
Yes, we can come over and have a look at new and existing electrical projects. Many people are switching to natural gas from Fortis to fuel their homes and need a ground wire installed. No worries...we do that.
We all know who to call "before you dig". Make sure that you call CBS after your project to ensure everything is safe.

Aside from being incredibly hot, the recent heatwave has brought a few things to a homeowner's attention. Mainly 1. Power sags and dips! Some communities overloaded the grid, as air conditioners were pushed to the max!
What we learned:
When electrical appliances are connected to a faulty or a low-quality power grid, sags and dips occur. When you turn on the devices that are connected to the cheap or faulty power grids, they consume more power than what the device can handle. This causes sags and dips.
Solution: If you want to experience improved lighting and lower power consumption, have your power checked by CBS and replace your old devices with new energy-efficient models.
We have received a little break from the heat this week, but it does not mean that it is time to take a break from your electrical repairs. The best time to get repairs and upgrades done to keep us cool for the rest of the summer is now!
Yes Vancouver Island is heading into a heatwave! Don't try to beat the heat like this guy. Contact CBS Electrical for AC installations and residential electrical upgrades to make sure that you have a problem-free, and cool summer. Call us at 250-889-7749!
Summer is here, and we know that everyone is itching to get outside and relax. A quick survey of local businesses has told us that hot tubs and bicycles are the hot selling items as they are COVID-friendly ways to relax.
We just wanted to remind everyone that they should reach out to us to make sure that their spa is wired correctly. We all know that electricity and water do not mix, and we want to ensure that everyone stays safe this summer.
Contact us now and obtain your peace of mind before you test the waters.
We hope that everyone had a great Victoria Day Weekend! We know that there will be important announcements today regarding COVID restrictions, and how we can proceed into the summer safely. No matter what is announced, CBS Electric wants to remind everyone to maintain social distancing with those that are important to you this summer!
It's a long weekend! But wait, you saved all of your indoor renovations till the long weekend. Now instead of enjoying the nice weather, you have to try to get all of the basement wiring done for your family game room. Procrastination costs. You should have had CBS Electrical take care of the problem during the week so that you can kick back and enjoy your weekend. Don't take our word for it. Ask Magnum what he thinks of your plan to leave everything to the last minute?
I'll do it myself to save us money" you said.
"I'll just buy some new tools and look up how to fix things on Youtube". you said.
I have not seen that many sparks since the last Avengers movie!
You should have called CBS instead of doing it yourself.
Don't be like these two. Call CBS Electrical and avoid all the fighting and "do it yourself" damage.
The long weekend is almost here and everyone's thoughts turn to being outdoors! Cleaning up gardens and patios means that there will be long lines at the hardware store, but many people forget to check on their outside lights and electrical systems. Get the most out of summer by having CBS Electrical make sure that your systems are good to go! (Save us a steak if you don't mind. Medium rare works).
We wanted to wish all the Mother's out there a Happy Mother's Day! Tell your kids that we are here for you to make your summer garden dreams come true by installing all of the lights, and outlets that you need to make working outside enjoyable this summer. After all, a satisfied Mom is a happy Mom!
