Years of neglect result in excessive damage underneath this thick layer of moss which was the only thing preventing leakage. The extra weight of moss and snow build up runs risk of roof cave in around the weak peak sections. Now tha growth is removed the roof can be assessed and repaired properly.

One of the wors Tile roofs I've come across, The tile has been eaten away by the moss and thick layer of lichen. After a thorough cleaning and treatment any remaining growth is dead and will fall off on its own over time.
