Our AGM was held on May 11th here are some highlights from the meeting.. Revenue for the year was $16,586.. Expenses Sports programs $1,350..Shoes for Youth $2,750..and Food Program $1,000.. Race costs for Fletcher's Challenge $3,663..Insurance $2,822.. Promotional Expenses $559.. for total expenses $12,184.. which left us with a positive cash flow of $4,402..leaving Total Assets for the year end at $12,222... the Board of Directors elected Eric Sunby, Greg Scott. Anita Stuart, Dan Brady, Daniel Been, Kelen Espey, to two year terms..the remains Board members are Ferenc Stefani, Charlie Burrell, Laura Richards, Crystal Dennison, with one year left in their 2 year term.. the Executive for 2024 are Charlie President, Laura Vice,, Greg Treasure, Anita Secretary, for more information next year attend the AGM.. The Board thanked Luke Holden for his contribution of time and effort in the past year as he had to step down due to other commitments.. A round table discussion was held as well in discussing how do we get our membership back up to pre covid numbers and what to do to revitalize our weekend runs and activities.. stay tuned.. until then Happy Trails..

Some interesting items from our April 15th Board meeting.As of April 14th we have $12,694 cash on hand.. Income to date is $6,500 Expenses at $6,034 of which $2,992 was our insurance cost for 2024.. So with most of the Fletcher's Challenge revenue and costs recorded we have a year to date profit of $465.90 with revenue from Fletcher's at 7,500... A huge shout out to our Sponsors: Central Drugs, Laird Wheaton GM, Proline Management, MJR Tree Services, KJ Controls, as well as tremendous advertisement from Times Colonist and Various News Papers with Black Press.. as ROC members please give them your business.. Our Fletcher's Challenge has made tremendous positive impacts in helping youth in our community access sports.. and our Sponsors Participants and most importantly our Volunteers 75+ to get er done.. In all accounts this year's was another success greatly enjoyed by all.. SOOO mark your calendars save the date we are doing it all over again April 18th 2025 we need you all again.. Remember the AGM is coming up on May 11th at Country Grocer just after our morning run at Westwood Lake.. come out for the trail run join us at the AGM. if you haven't renewed your membership now is the time to do it.. presently we are at 71 members significantly down from where we use to be.. so lets get back at it. An interesting fact for this year's race. After years of being asked to offer a short course this will be the first time we have offered a short course. 80% of Runners are in for the long course.

There can be as many as four groups of trail runners on any given Saturday, and members can join the group which best matches their own trail running experience and fitness level.

Ok this Saturday morning June 24 run will start at top of the pavement on Dumont Road. Run starts at 8am. Drop ins are welcome just go to race roster and sign waiver. We’ll have a social coffee after the run as well. Newbies are always welcome. Last run event at different locations. All July and August runs will be at Westwood lake starting in the main parking lot at 8 a m. Bring a towel for hot days and enjoy a after run dip. Happy Trails.

Hey trail runners this Saturday June 17 the trail run will be at Ridge Runner out on Nanaimo lakes road. Run starts at 8 a m. Drive past the Fish and Game rifle range park on left side of road wide spot just before the logging road on right hand side. Drop ins are welcome just go online to Race Roster sign the waiver No drop in fee you’re good to go. Plan on having a after run coffee and sweet with your new found trail running friends. Enjoy. 20 runners in Linley Valley this morning braving the wet for some perfect running temps and amazing single track. We broke into 3 groups, thank you to our run leaders! We also had a few new faces and for some it was their first time in Linley! Great run everyone see you next week same time new place. 11 for coffee after!🌲☕️

Hey What Great weather for an early morning run on some of Nanaimo's best single track forest trails.. this weekend join us at Linley Valley off Burma Road.. run starts at 8 a m. we'll be on the trails for about 1 hr and 30 minutes after which we will have a lovely social gathering at a local coffee shop for a treat and coffee.. drops in are welcome just go to race roster and sign the waiver no fee charges.. if you like us join up for the annual fee of only $25 bucks. Good Morning ROC and Future ROCers. this weekend the run will be at the Abyss starting at 8 a.m. Drop ins are welcome to join just sign waiver on the Race Roster no fee to drop in see if you like the group and if you do join up.. it's the best 25 bucks you'll spend all year.. we have various speed groups from fast to walkers and usually out for about 1hr 30 minutes.. coffee after the run is always great to talk about our athelic abilities.. cheers.. happy trails..

Hot off the presses the final numbers are in from Fletcher’s Challenge. Numbers of participants were up for the trail race and family run/walk participants. The net income from the event was over $10,500 which will make a big impact getting youth access to sports.

This event can’t take place without the generous support of our sponsors, planning committee, volunteers, bakers and all of you.

We are excited to announce that the next Fletchers Challenge will be on
Good Friday, March 29, 2024.

Hey Folks this weekend the run is at Top Bridge take the first right turn off to Parksville turn left towards the weigh scale once you go through the four way stop take first right follow the road to the metal footbridge. Run starts at 8 a m. Coffee after at serious on right going into Parksville. It’s a great little mostly flat run along the Englishman River. Wonderful way to start your day. Drop in are welcome.
