Spare Blox Drop In at Uplands Park Elementary is cancelled tonight, May 28th, and will resume again next week.
There will be no drop in Spare Blox at John Barsby tonight due to the school’s Indigenous Grad Celebration.

The Youth Lounge Get Registered Event on May 2nd & 3rd has been postponed - please check back for further updates for when it is rescheduled. Youth Lounge will still run on May 2nd & 3rd regular operating hours.
We've teamed up with 8 local organizations to jazz up youth hangouts, provide outreach, connect to nature, support mentoring, and already existing programs. Who are these organizations you ask? Check em' out:

BC Youth Week
The City of Nanaimo and Vancouver Island Regional Library have partnered to create a Youth Book Response Poetry Contest for writers under the age of 18, and there are THREE prizes to be won! We’re asking youth to write a poem inspired by or responding to your favourite book! Poems can be any style or length.
Selected poems will be displayed at the Vancouver Island Regional Library’s Harbourfront location.

Do you know an emerging poet between the ages of 13 - 24?
Please encourage them to apply to serve as the next City of Nanaimo YOUTH POET LAUREATE!
Working alongside the Poet Laureate, the selected applicant will provide a new and exciting voice for youth, helping to facilitate creative opportunities and encouraging peer engagement on a civic level.
This position will allow the successful candidate the opportunity to stretch their creative wings, build their resume, undertake youth engagement projects, collaborate with Youth Literacy Central Vancouver Island and the Vancouver Island Regional Library Teen Advisory Committee and more.
Youth voices are important and we want to hear them!
