Wolf and Eagle. Hand engraved sterling silver ring. This is a size 10 in a width of 3/8”. Not a common width for a ring this size and a real treat to design and engrave. This is something special that my client did for himself. We must remember to be good to ourselves.
Raven and Eagle. Hand engraved sterling silver cuff bracelet. A little something a client ordered for herself. This was a pleasure to make for her and I hope she enjoys it for years to come.
Chief of the Undersea World. A representation of a Killer Whale and the name is a comment on the power of these creatures in both the mythical world and the real world. This piece was heavily influenced by a beautiful piece by Jay Simeon. Check out his work, it sets a high bar. This piece is available. DM me for details.
Killer Whale Pendant. This one I have called the Greatest One in the Sea. The Killer Whales rule the undersea world and this one is the most powerful. Hand engraved and chased in sterling silver. 2” diameter. DM for details.
Grizzly Bear pendant. Most items I do are hand engraved with chasing used to increase the depth in the piece. For the Grizzly Bear I have used the technique of repoussé to shape the metal into more of a full relief finish. DM me for more details.
Raven Medallion ring. Back in the spring a client asked if I could make a ring similar to a pendant that she had seen in a post. I suggested that I make it into a ring. She loved it. Here is one similar to what I did for her. DM for details.
Hummingbird ring. A Hummingbird pendant cast in 14k gold and bezel set in a sterling silver ring. This piece makes a statement. DM for details.
Wolf pendant in 14k gold. Cast from a hand engraved original. DM for details.
Sgaguud. Humpback whale. Hand engraved in sterling silver. Commissioned piece.
Raven pendant. Hand engraved in sterling silver. There are times when a piece I have done can lead to other forms for the same or a similar concept. This was inspired by the form of the back of my Raven sculpture.
“After the Darkness”. Hand engraved in 18k gold and set in sterling silver. These pieces bring together my favourite things in what I do. The engraving and building of a piece. Items that are more complex and a mix of detailed parts and clean simple forms in two metals. 1 3/4” diameter. DM for more details or shoot me an email.
Grizzly Bear shaving brush and razor set. Hand engraved sterling silver and west coast Manzanita burl handles. This is a fun set done a few years back.
Raven Ring. Sculpted in wax and cast in sterling silver, this is making its first appearance in a show since I did these in the fall of 2022.
I am at the this weekend in Victoria. I will post some detailed photos of these items, or, better yet, come see them in person. 5 wolves and 4 Ravens.
Heron wall panel in red cedar. The Heron design has long been a favourite of mine. Hand carved, this is based on a sterling silver pendant that is also included in this post. I will steal a loose quote from Bill Reid “while I am primarily a jeweller by trade, I occasionally make jewellery for buildings.” This is just a reminder that I also carve wood. Please come see me and this panel at the Telus Convention Centre this week in Calgary. Thursday to Sunday.
Killer Whale pendant in sterling silver. Two piece hand engraved pendant has a nice movement as the front and back move independently.
Eagle Pendant. Hand engraved in 18k gold 7/8” diameter.
Raven steals the Light. Hand engraved in 18k and set in sterling silver. Thursday to Sunday at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary.
Raven and the Moon sterling silver earrings.
Raven sculpture. Cast in sterling silver and hand finished. Set on arbutus with an epoxy finish.
Hummingbird Earrings. Hand engraved stud backs. Sterling silver.
Eagle anniversary rings. Hand engraved, 14k yellow gold inlaid in sterling silver. These wider format rings were made back in June for clients that made a request for gold over laid on silver. I agreed to do them on the condition that I inlay the gold and not overlay it. They had never heard of of this and were quite pleased with the result. Some how I failed to post these, perhaps due to the clients waiting to display them first?
Raven Rattle. Hand engraved and constructed in sterling silver, yellow cedar and granite pebbles. Here I have represented the Raven and the Beaver in the story of the stealing of the light. Quite often the Beaver is left out of this story and I felt the poor old Beaver deserved some representation. Come check this one out
Raven sculpture cast in sterling silver and hand finished. Set on arbutus and cottonwood bark base.
Salmon Trout head earrings. Hand engraved and concave domed in sterling silver. The Salmon Trout head is a design element that is used for eye and joint detail and are sometimes used as a stand alone piece like these lovely earrings. The concave shape plays with the light in a different manner than the convex standard for earrings and pendants.
Raven stud earrings. Hand engraved in sterling silver. at the Vancouver Convention Centre booth H22.
Hummingbird. 1/2” hand engraved and chased. Sterling silver. Come see this at the following shows in Vancouver in Calgary and Victoria
Something else on my bench this weekend. Cast sterling silver Raven ready for mounting on its base. Come see this
The story of the Raven stealing the light is a fun story to work with. Many interpretations of it feature the Raven with the light in his beak as he flies away with it. In the version of the story that I am familiar with the light was stolen from the Beaver. On my bench today (and I have worked on this piece for many days) is a sterling silver rattle that features the Beaver on the flip side of the Raven with the light in his beak. The Beaver is represented in the wing of the Raven. This piece will have a yellow cedar handle.
Sterling silver Bent-box. The bent-box is an item that was used by most or all Nations on the west coast. These were done in red and yellow cedar and were done in a few different formats. This is a sterling silver model of a storage box. Dimensions are 59mm (51mm without lid) X 39mm X 39mm. This is a test model I made to try a construction technique. And yes, this is a bent-box, meaning the four sides are made from one piece of silver.
