Lindsay Suddaby Voice Studio
I teach singing to people of all ages, abilities, & genders, in styles ranging from classical to pop. I am taking new students!
I was born and raised in Nanaimo, and hold a Bachelor of Music in Voice from the University of Victoria. I love teaching many styles of music, from classical to folk to musical theatre. My primary focus is building a foundation of healthy, free, and expressive vocalization that can be applied to all musical avenues. I also conduct the Camerata Singers, a Nanaimo community choir. Feel free to call, email, or message me to find out about starting lessons.

Transgender and gender non-binary clients are seeking services from speech and language pathologists and from teachers of singing with increasing frequency, both for the singing voice and the speaking voice. Topics include appropriate language usage, best practice standards for teachers and therapists, and becoming an ally to the transgender and gender non-binary community. Dr. Kozan will also discuss special concerns as a cisgender person providing services to transgender and gender non-binary clients, challenges faced by trans and gender non-binary singers and speakers, experiences using Somatic VoiceworkTM principles with clients, use of voice therapy techniques, and techniques for helping change the clientβs internal self-talk. Kozan will present excerpts from The Singing Voice chapter (authored by Kozan and Sandi Hammond in Adler, Hirsch and Pickeringβs Voice and Communication Therapy for the Transgender/Gender Diverse Client: A Comprehensive Clinical Guide, Third Ed., 2019). My Story
I love inspiring people. I love to help people find their voice, discover freedom in their technique, and encounter new musical insights β whether in private lessons or in a choir. I also love to touch audiences through performance.
I grew up singing in choirs in Nanaimo, and have returned to my hometown to share my education in song β including two terms at the Randolph Academy of Performing Arts in Toronto and a Bachelor of Music in Voice from the University of Victoria.
I believe that everyone who wants to sing should be given the opportunity to sing!
