A sweet weekend with family in Oliver, BC. A new tradition!

We humans can get so creative in our perceptions.
Is it a hook to hang my bath towel or an octopus waiting for a fight? Yikes 😬
We are all doing this everyday… drawing conclusions…sure of our thinking and the stories we tell ourselves, especially when it sparks heated emotions! With support we can learn to be with what is just under the surface fueling what we see and experiencing . When together we arrive at this point with compassion…the mind opens, softens and we have what was before impossible a now growing sense of possibility for new choices for how we relate and respond…even to a hook😊💕🐙

I love this photo as it is a clear picture as seen on my face of a moment of absolute joy. These kind of moments that I can call on as a personal resource to stay grounded and assist me in times of dysregulation.
Oxford Dictionary defines “resource” as a supply or stock of money, materials, staff, and other assets that can be drawn on by a person or organization in order to function effectively”.
Tho not material really or monetary in nature a personal resource like time spent with loved ones, riding a rollercoaster or like me heading back to shore with my sweet pup and my partner after a day of sailing can be called upon when we need it.
One of the explorations of therapy is not only exploring what is making us miserable but also what makes our heart sing and better yet how we can engage in it and use it to help us thrive.
What makes your heart sing ?

The most important ingredient in counselling is the therapeutic relationship. Here we discover that when we are fully supported and feel the other has our back, we are safe to connect and explore who we are.
Joy is an element that we can experience in therapy and it is good medicine when it enters the room even when we are going through difficult times . We learn to see ourselves and each other with humour, grace and loving kindness, knowing we are not alone on this journey.
