Hey Everyone, Happy Valentine’s Day.
In 2018 I decided that I would go it alone running DeadCity. I wanted to just have a private studio space, no fuss.
But I couldn’t let go of that brand. It was tied to my identity. I wasn’t ready to split yet, I kept it going. First I was alone, then others joined me. Then inevitably I was alone again. And this time I’ve been at the shop alone has been pretty awesome.
DeadCity has been basically running like a private studio for a year. I’ve had some long days. Like seriously, very long days. It’s probably abnormal for
A guy to sleep on his shop couch after a long day because there’s no point in going home since I have to be back early. So I’ve been trying to balance paying all the bills myself, still enjoy tattooing and spend time with my children. And of course there needs to be some time for self care. Last winter I went through a serious depression. I learned SO much from that. I’m one of those stubborn men who work with an infected foot for a month instead of going to the hospital.
But, burnout is a real thing. And I want to obviously avoid that.
I am going to spend more time with my children., and family. And I want to paint. Because up until this past month or two I haven’t painted anything in 5 years. I’ve barely had time for doing my drawings for the tattoos I’ve been doing in order to pay for a a shopfront and it’s associated bills. And a house and it’s massive bills.
After tattooing for 26 years. It’s time to be the old school dude with a private studio. . I’m going to basically “retire” the DeadCity brand. I’m in the process of taking a small break and setting up my art space.
The sign is down at 150 Oak st. And I am moved out.
So let’s answer some questions

1) Yes you can still get a tattoo. It’ll just be in a different studio space. And I’m still just mostly taking on bigger projects. Mostly clients just txt me and make appointments. Once you set up that first appointment, you’ll
Have my number and it’s pretty easy after that. Still takes me a few days to
Answer sometimes.

2) DeadCity gift certificates are basically just James Sroga gift certificates. They don’t expire and as long as I’m alive and tattooing. You can redeem them. I know there’s. Going to be at least two people with gift certs from 2018 that panic about this.

3) this page is going to get retired eventually too. My personal page on Instagram is the best way to get a hold of me.

4)I WILL be going through all the msgs on this page. I am grateful for the interest and support. I guess after working at the shop from 11 am to 2 am the next day. And being a dad on my off days. I can suck at replies. I will own that and do better.

5) YES the DeadCity storefront is closed.

A big thanks goes out to all of the characters that have contributed to this shop for 13 years. It’s definitely been a ride. I hope everyone is doing well and thriving wherever they are.

So the past 4 times I’ve tried to log in here it was showing me that I have nothing in my inbox and no content published. I have no clue why all the glitches. But my IG has been running steady. I truly believe that I’m the only tattooer in North Bay that uses traditional coil machines. Everyone’s joined the wireless dildo-spacevape-pen club. Do you guys know of anyone else that still uses loud electromagnet coil machines??

Nothing like photos of tattoos that have been healed for a while. Since you’re going to have that tattoo on you for the rest of your life, it’s pretty important to know it’s going to age well, just like you.

I’m focussing on mostly larger scale projects. But the doesn’t mean I won’t do your single
Rose or palm sized pieces.
As far as the little tattoos, I can try to fit stuff like that in before the day. But realistically, it’s hard to do everything and most likely I’ll just send you to someone who does all the small small lettering and Those types of things.

Hey everyone, so this is very strange, and I don’t know how the hell it could happen
ALL the message threads. Every single DM all the way back to 2010, is GONE.
If you messaged the shop, or were in a conversation with the shop, inquiring or booking an appointment, that conversation has been deleted.
At this point, if you messaged us and are waiting for a reply, (in the past three weeks). Just send a new DM and I will be personally checking then all. No more helpers and mystery secretaries. Things are frustrating enough in the world right now, it shouldn’t be a huge chore to get a spot booked to get tattooed. That being said, I’m only one man and also the entire crew of this ship at the same time.
Some time HAS opened up for the rest of September and I can book some spots for October/November too. I’m trying to integrate time for smaller tattoos as well.

Hey everyone!! I’m stoked to announce that DeadCity will have two friends visiting from London. Travis Ellis and Pete Vanderheide I know there’s a bunch of people waiting to get work done. And with our recent “staff changes” it’s become even more dreary of a wait. Well, now is your opportunity. DM THE FACEBOOKPAGE I know the phone hasn’t been getting answered a whole lot. But the page has an assistant. Also, feel free to DM Pete or Travis with tattoo questions. Be patient and we will make it happen.

No pressure. We were supposed to start this yesterday. But we had some design changes and we sat here and drank sodas and I drew this up. People don’t really see all the prep that goes into a big project. Under ideal circumstances i would love to be able to meet with a client and figure stuff out t the day before, then come in the next morning and tattoo. Mind you, this morning turned into 5 pm. We will be here late for sure.

So the past few weeks have been a bit of a clusterduck as far as the social media (and life in general) goes. We’ve had health and family issues on top or work related and holiday related stress.
I apologize for the lack of responsiveness on the various platforms that you reach out on

I’ve had things to announce, but I have admittedly avoided it because I’m
Already pretty much overwhelmed with work and life.
We have once again had some staff changes. It seems to be the way things inevitably go in the tattoo shop world.
Kris G was going to at one point think about moving here from Toronto. However in December he informed me that his best course of action was to take a job closer to home. I will definitely miss seeing him every two weeks and this company will feel the loss for sure. I wish Kris and his family all the best in the future.
A few weeks after Eric informed me that he will be going off on his own. As tattooers, I guess we all dream of having our own studio. It’s inevitable. I’m sure he will have much success, as he has tight work and a good work ethic.

And as for me, well, it looks like I have tennis elbow. I can barely mop. (But I can still tattoo) but I am running DeadCity day to day operations myself.

Hey everyone. Thanks for your patience, the shop is basically de facto on Christmas Holidays right now until January 2nd.
I will try to get back to dm’s Personally over the next two weeks.
However, I am on holidays too and my family comes first.
It would be great if we could get back to everyone immediately.
There is however a BIG backlog of msgs and a shortage of people to answer them.
