An appreciation post for the world of online yoga classes 🫶🏻
Thanks to the pandemic, the world of online yoga and fitness grew tremendously and while I appreciated it back then, I appreciate it even more now as a mom!
I had every intention to make it to a studio class this morning, I signed up at the beginning of the week and everything…then little monkey woke up every hour for the 3rd night in a row and so I gifted us with an extra hour of sleep and a slow morning instead.
“She believed she could, then her baby woke up at 12am, 1am, 2am, 4am, 5am, and 6am, so decided she could not” 😅😂
I really do miss the energy of a studio class and the freedom to go to a class whenever I wanted to, but sometimes I just have to be home with my little guy because that’s what’s most important right now. It’s hard sometimes to accept this, but like all things in life this too shall pass, so I’m leaning into everything that this season of motherhood brings - the beauty and the hardships.
Thank you online yoga community for giving me the option to take a class in my living room 🥹
This is exactly why I opted for my new program The Mama Movement to be an online program - as much as I would LOVE to get a bunch of moms out to a studio 2x a week, I know that can be TOUGH! This gives all of us the flexibility to be home with our little ones and tend to them if needed while still getting in some time to take care of ourselves and fill up our cups so that we can show up as the best mamas for our little monkeys 💖

This 1 hour class will start with a slow flow, creating space and nourishing the body through gentle movement and breath. In a world of constant comparison, competition, and status this is often easier said than done. But it’s so beautiful when you get to be the raw, imperfect, real, magical human being that you are ✨
When I was growing up, I felt most like myself while dancing, whether I was in class or on stage I was completely at home with myself. I feel this way now with yoga as well. When I’m on my mat moving with my breath it’s like everything becomes clear, I know who I am, I’m proud of who I’m becoming, and I know my purpose.

In week 2 of my Yoga for Dancers Summer Program at we learn, through movement and reflection, how to let go of perfection and instead embrace imperfection. We learn how to honour where we’re at and celebrate our progress and how far we’ve come over reaching the “perfect” end goal or destination 💛
As dancers, we learn to perfect choreography, technique, timing, etc. and while that’s an important part of our art, there is so much beauty in imperfection, messiness, and asymmetry ✨
Through my own personal yoga practice I’ve learned that it’s okay not to be perfect, it’s okay to fall, and it’s okay to fail 💛

Hey friends! 👋🏻 it’s been a little while…social media is usually what I step away from in periods of feeling low energy, motivation, and/or drive, stress and anxiety, etc etc. I find that spending some time away to focus on “coming back home to myself” is always helpful and beneficial for me - less comparison, judgement, negative self talk, better posture, better sleep, more connection, & the list goes on!
That being said, this platform is amazing in so many ways - I love following along on other people’s journey & I get to share about mine! I’ve been teaching lots, practicing (almost) everyday, and working on some exciting new offerings ✨💛🧘🏼♀️
I will be sharing these in my stories/upcoming posts so keep your eyes peeled 👀

I wrote myself a letter, here’s what it said…
“It’s time to start honouring your truth, your needs, your desires, your dreams, YOURSELF. The more you people please, say yes when you want to say no, compare yourself to others, and worry about what others think about YOUR choices, the more you disappoint yourself. The more inauthentic I am, the more unhappy I am. Start now, Erica 💛.”
I felt called to share because this is something I will always come back to through my practice of being conscious and aware of the times I am inauthentic so that I can show up as my true self (unapologetically) more often. Feel free to use this as inspiration in your practice of showing up authentically too ✨

This is an intention I wrote down as I was intention setting for 2022. I felt called to share as I was having an off day - feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed ~ all the things ~ but then I moved my bodyyyyy and it was magical, I felt a shift of emotion, energy, + intention immediately!
Please remember, there are many things we need to do in order to tend to and care for our mental health but moving your body is an amazing place to start 💛 don’t forget to move around any way you know how - dance around your living room, go for a walk…there’s no right way 🧘🏼♀️🤸🏼♀️💃🏼

“There’s nothing more real than your breath…”.
A line I heard in my mediation this morning and it really resonated. In times of change, uncertainty, and transformation I always find myself living in the “what if…”, creating scenarios and imagining all the problems that haven’t happened yet (and who knows if they ever will!) When I find myself feeling anxious, worried, or stressed it’s because I’m living in the future.
When you’re living in the present moment, like really living in it - listening to the sound of your breath, being radically aware of your surroundings, and noticing the physical sensations in your body - there is no place for stress, anxiety, or worry.

The flow will start off strong and faster-paced, we will work our strength, balance, mobility, and flexibility as we move in unison with our breath. The second half of the flow will consist of deeper, yin style asanas where we work into the deep fascia and connective tissues that often don’t get enough love!
