A clean site is obviously a safer site but why do we make this a big deal on our sites? Because it sets the tone to everyone who steps on site. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there especially all the Dad’s at HummingbirdHill and our design & trade partners who work tirelessly to create the homes we are all so proud of.

Air tightness. Can you guess which hole represents the amount of air leaking 24/7 in your home? And even many new homes have big holes. This topic does not get the appropriate attention it deserves both at the design and construction stage. Air leakage impacts more than just operational efficiency and $$. A leaky home also impacts indoor air quality (think mold and your health), unnecessary renovations (think rot and your wallet), poor thermal comfort, and even poor acoustics! An air tight home can also save you money in the size of mechanical system needed. Unfortunately most new homes are not built with air leakage as a consideration and are rarely tested to confirm and optimize. This is a huge missed opportunity in our books. Lets build better.
