1,095 days. That’s how many days our Program Manager Shayna has been working with us and today she celebrates her three year anniversary.
“Working at Adults in Motion has been truly unlike anything else I’ve experienced before. I feel so lucky to work in an environment where I am see , heard and valued all while being encouraged to have FUN while I work.
Thank you to everyone who has played a part in making my time here so enjoyable. I look forward to more time spent connecting, growing, learning and laughing!”

Way to share the wealth Norway!
What an absolute act of kindness! 🍎🍏
The future is around the corner, plan ahead 😉.
Did you know we offer Summer Camp Days and School Transition programs?
Adults in Motion began when our directors Rodd and Shelley noticed a gap in disability services for folks once they reach 21 and age out of high school. So even today we make it a priority to ensure we are doing all we can to help caregivers through that transitional time.
Our Transitional Program starts for folks who are 18 and we welcome them into our program to experience what life after highschool can look like!
Do you know someone who would enjoy our program? We’d love to chat more! Feel free to drop a comment, shoot us a DM or send us an email to [email protected]
(Image Description: a promotion photo showing two members riding an adaptive bike with text describing summer camps and transitional programs)
What do common sense, authenticity, connections and trust all have in common?!
They are all values that we use to guide our programs and approaches to support our members each day!
We love trying new things and going with the flow so to help us stay true to who we are, we hold these values near and dear - even when doing awesome nature art like this!
(Image Description: two participants with their arms around each other, showing off their nature art)
CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!

Happy long weekend to all of our members!
We hope you have a great Victoria Day and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday May 21st :).
(Image Description: a photo of two members posing in a green grassy area over top of a purple background reading happy Victoria Day. We will be closed on Monday, May 20 to celebrate. We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, May 21. Cheers to the long weekend)
Today we popped by our local fire station to visit with some of the firefighters and deliver some cards we have made to say thank you for their service!
Community is SO important to us so getting to chat with and personally thank the folks who keep us safe was a great experience 🥰.

Because we’re still in love with you, on this harvest moon 🌕
If you couldn’t tell by Lee’s smiling face, getting to enjoy live music with our pals at Amica Bronte Harbour is one of our favourite things to do!

Did you know the total value of wasted or lost food in Canada is $49 billion. If this food was saved, it could feed every Canadian for five months!
Today we chatted about food waste and how we xan make an impact no matter how big or small. We used FlashFood to purchase an afternoon snack - yogurts that expire tomorrow and would have gone into the trash.
So not only did we save perfectly good food from going to the landfill, but we had a healthy, delicious snack at a discounted cost - it doesn’t get much better than that ;).
How are you celebrating Earth Day?!
(Image Description: a participant holding a package of yoghurt in front of a fridge and a receipt showing the yoghurt purchase for $2.14)
Did you know it’s National Volunteer Appreciation Week?!
We are SO lucky to have a wonderful support network of volunteers, students, and community donors who all play such a vital role in everything we do here at Adults in Motion.
Whether it be leading exciting activities, teaching us new skills, sharing your stories, financial contributions, or furry cuddles (thanks Nova ❤️)- we can’t thank you enough!
We spent time making our volunteers certificate of appreciation just to make sure they know how much we enjoy their company!
Here’s to many more experiences!
If you’d like to get involved - head to the link in our bio!
(Image Description: a carrousel of images showing volunteers receiving an award, group photos, Volunteer and a member fixing a couch and a variety of other group photos with members, smiling)
Name a better looking trio, we’ll wait 😏……….
Music has such a wonderful way of bringing folks together so when the crew suggested doing karaoke yesterday afternoon instead of our planned activity, we had NO problem making that switch.
We want all of our members to feel heard, seen and valued while they are with us so accepting feedback and making changes is something our staff team is always eager to do!
(Image Description: two members holding a microphone, hugging with a third member, smiling in the back)
HOPPY Easter!
Adults in Motion will be closed for the April long weekend.
We hope your time is spent doing something that brings you joy 🐣!
We’ll see you on Tuesday the 2nd!
(Image Description: photo with teal background and colourful eggs reading happy Easter with the Adults In Motion logo second photo reading happy Easter. To our wonderful Kaitlyn! It has been a year of fun, laughter, creativity, growth and excitement!
It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since we met Kait who we now know as our energetic, out-of-the-box-thinking, garden loving, creative, programming queen KAIT!
Thank you for putting your heart into everything you do and always trying your darndest to make Adults in Motion a safe and inclusive space ♥️. We appreciate you!
Happy anniversary!!!

March 21st is less than two weeks away! How will you be advocating, educating, or celebrating this year?
Share your plans with us in the comments!

Do you know of any vans for us?!
👀 We’re looking for a VAN!! 🌟
We’re ready to rev up our programming with a spiffy (used;) van, and we need YOUR help!
Got a van you’re itching to part with or a friend ready to bid farewell to theirs? Our director, Rodd, is excited to hear about it!
Send us a message or call us at 519-577-3723!
Thanks for helping us to have more van-tastic fun! 🚐😜❤️

Today is International Women’s Day - woohoo!
“I have so many important women in my life that help me, even the [Adults in Motion] staff” - Adam, member.
Adults in Motion takes pride in standing up and speaking up for marginalized groups which includes women and those who identify as women. So today we celebrate the women in our lives. Who will you be celebrating?!
(Image Description: image one: a collage of women, identifying cartoon characters with text reading “Happy International Women’s Day! Celebrating women today and every day. Image two: the same collage of women, identifying cartoon characters with text reading. How are you inspired by the woman in your life? Let us know the comments below”)
Well, I would tell you a joke about safety, but it’s not worth the risk! Ba dum tiss 🥁
Our Heath and Safety brigade was hard at work on Friday showing our co-op student Hannah the ropes (none of which were a tripping hazard of course 🫢).
At Adults in Motion, we love to implement programs created BY our participants FOR our participants. We’re constantly seeking feedback from our members and putting it into action.
(Image Description: two Adults in Motion members showing off the health and safety checklist in front of a Bulletin board decorated with art)
We turned activity prep into a fun challenge!
Would you believe that Alex cut out 10 Lilly pads in less than 1 min?! Sheeeesh - he’s a superstar.
(Image Description: two participants sitting at a table showing off cut paper Lilly pads and a timer reading 55 seconds)
Did you know ‘fostering purposeful community connections’ is one of our main values?
Not only do we connect as inner members but we take pride in connecting with our community meaningfully and often!
The crew has been walking to local cafes as a way to stay active, build and practice life skills and connect with our community! Yesterday we popped into Peach Coffee Co and we definitely felt the “Peach, Love and Happiness” 🥰.
We love all that Bronte has to offer and we are so happy to call Bronte home!
(Image Description: a participant, holding a coffee cup and smiling, facing the camera inside of a café)
What did the chef give to his Valentine?
A hug and a QUICHE 🤣!
We here at Adults in Motion hope you all feel the love today, whether it be from a friend, a family member, a partner, a furry friend, and most importantly… YOURSELF.
(Image Description: a red background with red, purple and gold hearts with text reading “happy Valentine’s Day”
Happy Fri-yay!
As much as we LOVE spending our weekdays in the program we ALSO recognize the beauty of a weekend 😁.
How do you spend your weekends?!
(Image Description: light ground background with four coloured hearts with smiley faces and text reading “happy Fri-yay”)
GOTCHA!
Our Director Rodd lost in a game of UNO and as his punishment he got his nails painted!
Haha, maybe next time Roddy!

“The things that make us different, those are our superpowers” - Lena Waithe
We saw some AWESOME pieces of art Queen Elizabeth Parkway Community and Cultural Centre’s exhibit showcasing local, black artists!
Staying in touch with our community is something we take pride in, especially when we get to learn of different cultures!
(Image Description: participant, standing in a gallery, admiring a piece of art showing a black man with colourful additions)
How are YOU honouring Black History Month 🤷🏽♀️.
February 1st marks the start of Black History Month and we were lucky enough to attend Halton Regional Police’s Black History Month flag raising ceremony.
We heard from members of our community while celebrating the progress that has been made and how we can all strive to create an even better tomorrow.
Adults in Motion even got a shoutout from the Deputy Chief!
Taking time to learn and listen is the first step!
Happy Black History Month 🤎.
(Image Description: three participants sitting in a conference room in the Halton regional police headquarters, turning back to face the camera with a smile)
We had a GREAT time checking out the RBG’s Winter Exhibit: Nature’s Superheroes!
Thanks to generous support of donors in our community we are able to access amazing resources and memberships such as our annual pass to the Royal Botanical Gardens.
If YOU are interested in becoming a donor or making a contribution head to the link in our bio for more info on how to become involved. Whether it be making a monetary donation, purchasing some items from our Amazon Wishlist or volunteering your time!
